'Transformers: Dark Of The Moon' Returns To IMAX

Michael Bay's robot flick will hit theaters again on Friday and run for two weeks.By Terri Schwartz Bumblebee in "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" Photo: Paramount The moon will go dark again as Paramount gears up to re-release "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" in IMAX this Friday. The third "Transformers" flick is currently the second-highest-grossing film of the year in the U.S., coming in second to "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2" with $348.5 million. "Dark of the Moon" will get a second life in 246 IMAX theaters in North America beginning on Friday, according to The Hollywood Reporter, and will run in IMAX through September 8. In most cases, that means the Michael Bay flick will screen alongside already running movies like "Deathly Hallows, Part 2," "Cowboys & Aliens" and "Final Destination 5," given that Steven Soderbergh's soon-to-open "Contagion" doesn't hit IMAX until September 9. Last year, "Avatar" made a similar move at the end of the summer, attempting to recapture moviegoers' interest before the end of the blockbuster movie season. The major difference between re-releases for "Avatar" and "Dark of the Moon" is that James Cameron stuffed "Avatar" with nine more minutes of previously unreleased footage to entice moviegoers. While "Dark of the Moon" doesn't have new footage, the newest releases haven't been big draws at the box office and that may make it a good time to try to nab any stragglers who still want to see giant robots blow things up. Christopher Nolan's Batman flick also benefited from this strategy. After its initial July 2008 opening, Warner Bros. gave "The Dark Knight" a February 2009 IMAX re-release. And even though the studio bypassed the summer movie season for the second release, the stunt still worked. There was plenty of residual interest in the flick following its Academy Awards success, and the second run helped push "Dark Knight" onto the list of the highest-grossing films of all time. It will be interesting to see if this becomes a trend in summers to come, with blockbuster films like "Prometheus," "Men in Black III," "The Amazing Spider-Man" and "The Dark Knight Rises" all set to hit theaters in 2012. Kanye West, Lady Gaga, Britney Spears, More Spotted Backstage At The VMAs

We watched as all the stars at the VMAs met and hung out backstage on Sunday night.By Jocelyn Vena, with additional reporting by Kara Warner and Matt Elias Britney Spears and Lady Gaga share a kiss backstage at the VMAs Photo: WireImage There were many, many standout moments that VMA viewers witnessed from the comfort of their living rooms (Beyonc#233;'s belly! Gaga/Jo macking on Britney!). But for every big moment on air, there was plenty of other crazy stuff that went down backstage, where there were no cameras rolling. But your trusty MTV News correspondents had access all over the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, and here's what we gathered from behind the scenes of the main show. » Jo Calderone on the move! We witnessed Gaga in character, dressed in a navy suit, black hair slicked back, cigarette behind her ear, serious look on her face as she headed up to the stage! » After Gaga's performance, her dancers left the stage, and seemed super psyched about everything. As they were leaving, the Pitbull dancers were walking on. Everyone high-fived. » Jonah Hill and the "Jersey Shore" kids shared their mutual love for one another. "I watch your show," Hill told the cast. » JWoww to Jared Leto: "Wow. I'm a huge fan! 'The Kill' is my favorite!" Leto: "Thank you so much!" Snooki, once they had passed the 30 Seconds to Mars frontman: "Aah?" To which Jenni replied, "That was Jared Leto. Don't you know who Jared Leto is?!" » We spotted Tony Bennett chilling in his room with a cart with two bottles of wine sitting outside. And in other catering news: We saw Britney Spears get a delivery of cookies, and guitarist Brian May got wine. » Brian May's and Lady Gaga's dressing rooms were next to one another. Next to that? Katy Perry. Not a meat cooler in sight! » Speaking of dressing rooms, Britney was seen all smiles as she walked back and forth between dressing rooms with just one guy and a stylist. » Kanye West strolled through, wearing lots of denim, and singing "Super Bass." » Adele was walking briskly from one place to another when one of her handlers whispered the Beyoncé news to her. "I knew she would be!" Adele exclaimed. » Gaga lit a cigarette for Adele. Naughty ladies! » Beyoncé's mom got lots of congrats from people on her way out following B's big announcement at the show. HGTV, LA and Dining Room Tables

I've been watching a lot of HGTV since coming to LA. My favorite shows are House Hunters and House Hunters International. There's also another show I like to watch called For Rent, but only because it makes me angry. When it comes to apartments/homes, I think living in New York for the past eleven years has made me bitter because there was this whiny broad on For Rent a few nights ago who was looking at a huge place—A HUGE PLACE—and was like, "There's no place for a dining room table..." B*TCH, YOU'RE LUCKY TO GET A KITCHEN IN NEW YORK. I hated her. Now there's some stupid lady on House Hunters who wants a townhouse with a fireplace that she can turn on with a light switch. IT HAS TO BE A LIGHT SWITCH because she doesn't want to bend down and flip a switch on the floor. WHO DO THESE PEOPLE THINK THEY ARE? Anyway, I know my LA update is WAY overdue (and truth be told I wrote a long one last week but for some reason it didn't save so I lost the whole thing and I was so angry that I just said, "Ah, f*ck it," and closed the computer instead of rewriting) but to give you a quick update, I AM SO HAPPY HERE. I MEAN, I'M REALLY, REALLY HAPPY. And I think living here and watching HGTV—both of these things combined—has made me realize that New York was just beating me down. I mean, the fireplace lady—yes, she's an idiot. But there's nothing wrong with wanting a dining room table. Why did I get so mad at that lady? Since being here, at least once a day I ask myself why I have lived in New York for so long. (It's like I had Stockholm Syndrome or something.) CALIFORNIA IS AWESOME. It's like the promised land. It's sunny all the time and there are birds and flowers everywhere. I have space out here. I have a sofa on the patio out here. I HAVE A SOFA OUTSIDE. I haven't seen one rat since I've been here. But hummingbirds? THEY ZIP BY MY HEAD EVERY DAY. I am so happy. I'm supposed to go back to New York in November, but truth be told, I'm not sure I will.Source: http://www.prettyinthecity.com/blog/2011/7/15/hgtv-la-and-dining-room-tables.htmlAlicia Witt

T.I. To Be Released Wednesday, Sources Say

Tip will head to a halfway house one month before his 11-month parole-violation sentence is up.By Alvin Blanco T.I. (file) Photo: Moses Robinson/ WireImage T.I. is going to be a free man in just a couple of days. Sources have confirmed that the Atlanta rapper, currently serving an 11-month sentence in Forrest City Correctional Facility in Georgia for a parole violation after an L.A. drug arrest, will be released to a halfway house on August 31. Tip will be walking out of jail about a month early, with his original release date listed as September 29 in public records. The Grand Hustle honcho, born Clifford Harris, Jr., should be ready to get back to the business of making music soon after his release. T.I.'s Smash company partner, producer La Mar "Mars" Edwards, is eager to reunite with Tip in the studio. "He let me know, 'I got your back and stay close to me, you're my brother,' " said Mars, who just produced Game's The R.E.D. Album. "Ever since then, he's really treated me like a little brother. He'll call me to talk about life. It's more to it than me being his production partner and having Smash Factory." And T.I.'s friend and collaborator DJ Drama also recently revealed that T.I. is working on a book. "8/31 -- #kingback. @Tip," Drama tweeted on Monday (August 29). While serving his sentence, the King has been keeping fans updated via his TrapMuzik.com website. In his latest entry, the "Live Your Life" rapper revealed that it would be his final blog post since he expected to be released in September. In that message, T.I. revealed that he planned to have his new music hearken back to material from his earlier days. "Next time you hear from me, I'll be back out there with you," he wrote. "Doing for those who can't do for themselves and speaking for those whose voices are never heard. When I touch down, I'm going all the way back to square one, like I'm fresh in the game and never sold a record. Back on some I'M SERIOUS, TRAP MUZIK sh--. ... But until then RESPECT to all who deserve it." The well-wishes he received from family, friends and fans inspired T.I. to sponsor a Memorial Day bus trip that brought the families of 14 inmates up for a visit who otherwise would not be able to. Although authorities in Los Angeles eventually dropped the drug charges against T.I., he was still found guilt of violating the parole terms stemming from his 2007 felony weapons charge. 'Avengers' Star Tom Hiddleston Teases 'Shady Deals'

His Loki, from the 'Thor' universe, 'intends to rule the human race as their king,' Hiddleston tells MTV News.By Kara Warner Tom Hiddleston Photo: Alberto E. Rodriguez/ Getty Images Judging from the overwhelmingly positive response to the "Avengers" footage screened at Disney's D23 convention over the weekend, the film's marketing and PR teams are doing a bang-up job of keeping the buzz building for the highly anticipated summer 2012 film. The actors are doing a fine job as well, given the fact that they can't ever reveal too much about the plot. When MTV News caught up with the actor behind the film's master of mischief, "Thor" star Tom Hiddleston, we asked him what kind of villainy Loki will be up to in his second big-screen appearance. "He's the god of mischief and the god of menace," Hiddleston said. "He's still complicated. He's still motivated by this tragic jealousy of Thor and the fact he doesn't have a place in the universe, the sort of awful history of his genealogy." The Englishman added that jealousy is a key emotional motivator for the complex character. "It's making him evolve. That jealousy has made him more self-possessed," Hiddleston said. "He knows who he is. He knows what his powers are. So he's definitively more menacing, but it's still motivated by this awful spiritual desolation," he explained. "Out of that, he's come to the Earth and he intends to rule the human race as their king," he continued. "He thinks — like all the delusional autocrats of history — he thinks that absolute power will get him self-respect." But it's not all about being dark and brooding, Hiddleston assured us. "He has a lot more fun too," he said, before impressing us with a pretty spot-on impression of his "Avengers" director, Joss Whedon. "Joss Whedon's perpetual note to me is: 'Tom, more feral, more unpredictable, and enjoy yourself.' " In addition to his impressionist skills, Hiddleston teased that Loki won't be making mischief all by himself. "He's made some shady deals. That's what I'm allowed to tell you," he said. "In the footage , there is a line where I say to Iron Man, Robert Downey, 'I have an army,' and that's definitely true," he promised. "I have amassed an army to help me subjugate the earth." Beyonce, Jay Z Celebrate VMA Baby News Backstage

B gathers with well-wishers -- including her Destiny's Child girls and Kanye -- declaring 'I'm free!' after onstage pregnancy reveal.By Kara Warner Beyoncé at the 2011 VMAs Photo: Jason Merritt/Getty Images Another year, another unbelievably action-packed Video Music Awards. As expected, viewers were treated to mind-blowing performances and several jaw-dropping surprises. The most unexpected moment came courtesy of Beyoncé Knowles, who not so subtly announced to the world that she and husband Jay-Z are expecting their first child. When B unbuttoned her sparkly jacket and rubbed her belly with a knowing smile, after which the camera panned to a visibly elated Jay-Z and Kanye West cheering from the audience, the Nokia Theatre was bursting with warm and fuzzy well-wishes for the soon-to-be parents. And that very public moment of celebration was just the beginning. When Beyoncé returned backstage to her dressing room, she was greeted by a team of people who enveloped the visibly happy star with hugs, cheers and congratulations. Click for photos of Beyoncé's big VMA night. "I'm free!" she said to one of the well-wishers, indicating that she and Jay are thrilled to not have to keep such a big secret any longer. "We're all free!" she said to the group. A few minutes after her arrival backstage, she was joined by her husband, a very excited West (whose first words upon entering the dressing-room area were "Where is Beyoncé?" as if he could not wait to give B a huge hug) and her former Destiny's Child ladies, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams. Even with the doors to their dressing rooms closed, the applause and whoops of joy could be heard everywhere backstage. "That was an eventful night, to say the least," Jay, still smiling, said to some of the revelers in the hallway, who continued to shower him with congratulations and hugs. 'Ghost Rider 2' Trailer: An Expert Analysis

'Spirit of Vengeance' sneak peek has MTV Movies team excited for what's to come from the Nicolas Cage superhero.By Eric Ditzian and Josh Wigler "Ghost Rider: Spirit Of Vengeance" Photo: Columbia Pictures The "Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance" trailer popped up online late last week, and what else is there to say about it other than Nicolas Cage closes out the new footage by pissing fire? Well, it turns out there's a heck of a lot left to say, which is why the MTV Movies team jumped into the comic book action for an expert commentary. The trailer begins sweetly, with a score reminiscent of "Lost" and some epic title cards: "He fought the curse ... evil will force him ... to face his demon." But any wacky notion that directors Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor, who also helmed the "Crank" films, have delivered a kinder, gentler Johnny Blaze is quickly dismissed when the music picks up and the flames flicker to reveal our first look at the new Ghost Rider. It's a look the directors have spoken with us about at length. "We wanted this black skull, with this gasoline fire and this black, inky smoke to get this real feeling of explosions and fire and heat," Neveldine said at San Diego Comic-Con. "That's something we really went for: 'Let's feel the heat in this movie.' " The grittiness of this Ghost Rider most definitely shines through in the trailer. Charcoal skull? Check. A whiff of gasoline seemingly rising off the screen? Check. Neveldine and Taylor not holding back in this trailer and delivering a full-on look at our hero right off the bat? Check. And they don't stop there, quickly showing off Ghost Rider's signature move, the Penance Stare: He looks into your eyes and makes you feel all the pain and suffering you've ever inflicted on other people. This is no fairy-tale power. This is not X-ray vision. This is a hard-core demonic power, one which was not played very well in the first film. Even in this quick shot, the Stare looks very cool. Speaking of demonic powers, the trailer got us thinking this film might not just be a sequel to the 2007 original, but to Cage's "Drive Angry," the 3-D action flick that had the actor busting out of hell to inflict gory revenge on his enemies. Crazy talk? Sure. But since "Drive Angry" hardly performed well enough at the box office to justify a sequel, we'll take whatever we can get. We get to see plenty of Ghost Rider here, but the trailer gives us the briefest glimpse of Johnny Whitworth as Blackout. He's part human, part demon, all bad news. Whitworth is a guy to watch — hardly a household name but one who delivered an energetic supporting role in the largely forgettable "Limitless." With Neveldine and Taylor in control, there is serious potential for killer fight scenes between Blackout and Ghost Rider. Another character we get a peek at is young Danny Ketch. Comic fans will know him as one of the guys who eventually becomes Ghost Rider. The big departure here is that Danny is a kid. In the comics, he's a young man. While this film probably won't turn into a passing of the torch from Cage's Johnny Blaze to Danny as the next Ghost Rider, it's nonetheless cool to see filmmakers laying the mythological groundwork. The trailer ends with pure, absurd fun: Ghost Rider declaring that it feels awesome when he pees fire. That's essentially how Cage feels about the movie as a whole. "The Ghost Rider is just the coolest-looking superhero, and it has to be the one that goes to film and looks the best," the actor told us at SDCC. "I think they've achieved that with this." Check out everything we've got on "Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance." For breaking news and previews of the latest comic book movies — updated around the clock — visit SplashPage.MTV.com. Do Foo Fighters Know Robert Pattinson From Robert Plant?

During band's rehearsal break for Sunday's Movie Awards, we put Foos to the test.By Ryan J. Downey, with reporting by Jim Cantiello The Foo Fighters' Dave Grohl Photo: MTV News UNIVERSAL CITY, California — Hard rock, heavy metal, hardcore and punk have long gone hand-in-hand with evil wizards, magic, vampires and werewolves. And with a collective sub-cultural pedigree that includes stints in the Germs, No Use for a Name, Sunny Day Real Estate, Scream and some band called Nirvana, you'd think the Foo Fighters — set to perform at Sunday's Movie Awards — would know their "Potter" from their Zeppelin. Certainly they can recognize a "wand" reference and pinpoint its origin? Right? Before we put MTV News' magically crafted trivia to the band, it seemed safe to assume the Foos would accurately distinguish between the words of Harry Potter, a "Twilight" character and Led Zeppelin. But was their underground nerd cred blown to shreds? Read on — and click the video! — to see how the Foo Fighters fared when we caught up with them on the Universal Studios lot, shortly after they finished rehearsing their Movie Awards performance. Our own Jim Cantiello played dungeon master as Dave Grohl, Nate Mendel, Taylor Hawkins, Chris Shiflett and Pat Smear were given a series of semi-famous lines and asked whether they originated with "Harry Potter," the "Twilight Saga" or the lyrics of hard-rock pioneers Led Zeppelin. Here's a sampling of a few of those one-liners: » "The elder wand, the most powerful wand ever made." » "Why don't you let me be yours ever truly? Can I make your garden grow?" » "You're lying, Dolores! You mustn't tell lies!" Can you guess whether the lines above came from the "Potter" flicks, "Twilight" or Robert Plant? Watch as the Foos try their best to do exactly that. Then tune in to the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday to catch the Foo Fighters rock the stage with their new single, "Walk." Will wizards, vampires or dream thieves steal the 2011 MTV Movie Awards? Find out June 5, when the 20th annual show airs live at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Tune in at 7:30 p.m. ET/PT that night for the "America's Best Dance Crew" finale and Movie Awards pre-show, loaded with live action from the red carpet, exclusive movie clips and a special edition of "After Hours." Coldplay, Led Zeppelin Album Covers Featured On New British Stamps

Album art from Pink Floyd, Blur and David Bowie also included.By James Montgomery Coldplay's new British stamps Photo: Royal Mail On Thursday (January 7), the U.K.'s Royal Mail unveiled a series of 10 new stamps, honoring the most iconic album covers of the past 40 years. The albums featured in the new series are the Rolling Stones' Let It Bleed, Led Zeppelin's IV, David Bowie's The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars, Mike Oldfield's Tubular Bells, The Clash's London Calling, New Order's Power, Corruption and Lies, Primal Scream's Screamadelica, Pink Floyd's The Division Bell, Blur's Parklife and — the most recent album on to make the cut — Coldplay's A Rush of Blood to the Head. Meant to honor "the most potent graphic images of modern times, many of which have provided a visual soundtrack to people's lives," the series is the end result of a lengthy research process by the Royal Mail, who looked through thousands of album covers by British artists before deciding on the final list. And, during a Wednesday night BBC Radio broadcast, it was revealed that the queen herself actually approved each design. Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page — who helped design the cover for IV — was on hand to celebrate the release of the stamps and recalled the mysterious nature of the album's iconic imagery. "Almost 40 years after the album came out, nobody knows the old man who featured on the cover, nor the artist who painted him," he said. "That sort of sums up what we wanted to achieve with the album cover, which has remained both anonymous and enigmatic at the same time." Of course, any great honor is befitting of an equally great contest, so, on the same day the stamps were made available to the general public, Coldplay decided to give one of their Rush of Blood stamps away. In a message on their official site, the band held a contest to send one lucky fan "a letter using a Coldplay stamp, postmarked with today's issue date." "We visited our local post office earlier today and bought some of the Coldplay stamps," the message read. "Very nice they are too." Fortunately, they had some solid ideas! "I haven't met them, so it would be kind of awkward," the "Tik Tok" singer admitted to MTV News. "I might paint them something. Maybe I'll paint them a guitar." Like Ke$ha, other celebs had suggestions that were from the heart, even if they weren't the most practical. "I will go out on a limb and say these two individuals maybe haven't had Uncrustables before in their life. I would get them a strawberry Uncrustable," Mike Posner said about the pastry. David Cook followed up on the all-American food idea. "I feel like they have everything except maybe they probably don't have an Applebee's gift card. I'll go Applebee's gift card," the "American Idol" alum said. Other stars said they'd gift the British prince and soon-to-be-princess with an item they were personally best known for. "I'd probably buy William some eyeliner," Lambert said. "He could do that, he could rock that look. I think." Ne-Yo was more empathetic, saying he would give gifts that could help shield them from photographers and blend in with everyday people. "Three years' supply of sunglasses. Yeah, put them on. A bunch of baseball caps, throw those on, and try to move around like regular people," the singer said. "I can't imagine what it would be like having to live under that big of a magnifying glass your whole life ... and fake mustaches, that's what I'd give them." Brooke Burke went the more traditional route, saying she would get Will and Kate a journal to record the big event. "I would ask them to really take the time to write down thoughts and phrases and wishes," Burke said. "And not really to lose sight of how they feel about each other now and to really hold on to that feeling." Kathy Griffin had good intentions but the comedian couldn't resist a puke joke. "If I had to get the royal couple a gift, I would get them the Royal Couple Vomit Bag, which someone sent me a photo of," Griffin told us. "So you can actually buy vomit bags with their image on it, and I think that that is an honor and I hope that they see it as such." What would you give to William and Kate? Share your ideas in the comments section! Britney Cozies Up To Beyonce: VMA Seating Revealed!

Presenter Kim Kardashian has a VMA seat, but where's hubby Kris Humphries?By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Jim Cantiello Kim Kardashian's seat at the 2011 Video Music Awards Photo: John Shearer/ MTV It's that time of year again, everyone. The seating cards are being placed inside the Nokia Theatre in sunny Los Angeles as producers work to put the finishing touches on Sunday's 2011 Video Music Awards. So what types of match-ups have they thought up this year? MTV News' Jim Cantiello investigated and found out some tasty tidbits. "Tony Bennett: This guy is a baller, and whoever is behind him is going to have the craziest contact high," he teased of the 85-year-old crooner, who will pay tribute to the late Amy Winehouse at Sunday's show. So who snagged that seat? Wiz Khalifa, naturally. Kim Kardashian will also be in the house as a presenter, but Jim wondered: "Where's her husband at? Her husband doesn't get a seat card. You thought when you marry Kim Kardashian you'd instantly get more famous. Dude, you're still not famous enough to get your own card at the VMAs," Jim warned the newlywed. His advice? "#DealWithIt." "This is going to be a very rowdy section at the VMAs Sunday night," Jim said as he made his way through the theater. "This is the land of Odd Future. Now, there are like 100 members of Odd Future. I'm only seeing three cards. So sorry, Hodgy, you're not invited this year." When Jim noticed there were some potato sacks lying around, he had a thought: "Here at the VMAs, we are prepared for anything in the audience, so if Lady Gaga wants to have a potato-sack race with Lil Wayne, we got them covered." Of course, Justin Bieber and girlfriend Selena Gomez are seated next to each other. Jim, however, knows how to make it even more adorable. "The only thing that would make this cuter is if Maru the cat was trying to get in between them," he suggested. Perhaps the section of the room fans will be most excited to see contains two of pop's ruling divas. "I'm in section Queen B at the VMAs," he said. So what does that mean? Beyoncé and Britney Spears are sitting next to each other! Who else will be there? Well, the "Jersey Shore" kids will be sitting front row, right near the cast of "Teen Wolf." And the cast of MTV's newest hit show "Awkward." will be there as well. The 28th annual MTV Video Music Awards will air live Sunday, August 28, from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles at 9 p.m. ET/PT, following the Selena Gomez-hosted pre-show at 8. Nicole Scherzinger: Heathrow Hottie

Enjoying some time in the UK, Nicole Scherzinger was spotted flying into Heathrow International Airport in London today (August 29). Looking her usual stylish self, the "Don't Cha" songstress donned a brown leather jacket, white lace mini-dress and super-trendy gladiator sandals as she made her way through the terminal. 'Hunger Games' VMA Teaser 'Epic,' Experts Say

Fan sites say Jennifer Lawrence 'captured Katniss onscreen.'By Kara Warner, with reporting by Eric Ditzian Jennifer Lawrence in "The Hunger Games" Photo: Lionsgate Ever since production began on "The Hunger Games," fans around the world have been waiting patiently for a first look at footage of heroine Katniss Everdeen in action. MTV News was very happy to provide that first-ever teaser, which star Jennifer Lawrence introduced to the world during the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday night. Given the excitement surrounding our exclusive look at footage of the big-screen adaptation of Suzanne Collins' beloved dystopian bestseller, MTV News sought out three "Hunger Games" experts to get their reactions to seeing Katniss' survival skills first-hand. "That was epic," gushed Samus Belle of fan site Sparks Will Fly. "I'm so excited. Especially seeing Jennifer Lawrence running through the whole arena, she looked like a hunter," Belle said. "She just captured Katniss onscreen." Kimmy West, of Mockingjay.net agreed with Belle on Lawrence's spot-on portrayal: "Jennifer Lawrence is just embodying Katniss," West said. "The big trait about Katniss is that she's animalistic when she hunts. You can totally tell that she's been training so much for that shot," West explained of seeing Lawrence wield a bow and fire an arrow in the clip. "She really looks like a pro." Our experts were so delighted to see Lawrence assume pole position in the teaser, they didn't mind not getting to see male leads Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) and Gale (Liam Hemsworth) in action. Hemsworth's voice can be heard throughout the footage, however, offering Katniss words of encouragement that echo in her mind as she's running for her life. "I think they maybe want to wait a little bit longer on Peeta to build up the excitement even more," said Arianna Ruiz of Down With the Capitol. "And Gale is still a very important part of Katniss' life." "Basically, is saying, 'You know how to hunt,' 'All they want is a good show,' 'Show them how good you are,' " West said, summarizing the voiceover. "I feel like it's a really good message to send across for the trailer because it's showing she's not a career tribute," she explained of the story's highly trained expert contestants. "She's not someone who wants to kill anyone; she's just wants to live after this." Belle speculated about when fan favorite Peeta might appear in the film's marketing campaign: "I'm a Peeta fan, but I think they will put him somewhere during the trailers because half the 'Hunger Games' fandom probably wants him in there at some point. "In all fairness, throughout the first part of the games, she is thinking mostly about Gale and the advice he gave her." West added that although she is just as excited as anyone to see Peeta, she's happy for certain elements to remain a surprise for as long as possible. "I like to be in anticipation still; I don't want to see everything," she explained. "I'm excited to see Effie and Haymitch and Primm and Peeta," West said of her favorite characters. "But I think it's good I'm still waiting for it." Speaking of waiting for things, West thinks director Gary Ross and Lionsgate added a special bonus for fans to pick up on at the very end of the footage. "Right as you see the 'Add us on Facebook' stuff, and the screen turns black, and you can hear four really high-pitched whistles, kind of like if you're not listening hard, you might miss it," she explained of a character's memorable communicative methods with Katniss in the book. "That's really awesome. I was wondering what tune they were going to use, and it sounds really perfect for what I was thinking." Check out everything we've got on "The Hunger Games." Michael Jackson's Legacy, Two Years Later, By the Numbers

Legendary singer's impact continues to blossom in the two years since his death; MTV News breaks down the figures.By Gil Kaufman Michael Jackson Photo: Kevin Mazur/ WireImage Like Elvis, Bob Marley, Notorious B.I.G. and Frank Sinatra before him, Michael Jackson's influence has continued, and grown, since his untimely death on June 25, 2009. On the second anniversary of the King of Pop's passing, MTV News took a look at the enduring appeal of MJ's music, videos and imagery, which continue to fascinate and attract fans across the globe thanks to a series of posthumous albums, a movie, video games and two upcoming Cirque du Soleil live shows. Where Were You Two Years Ago When You Heard the News? Tell Us on Facebook $72 million: According to Box Office Mojo, Jackson's posthumous concert film, "This Is It," has grossed more than $72 million to date domestically and $189 million in foreign markets for a worldwide take over more than $261 million. It ranks as the #2 music documentary of all-time behind Justin Bieber's "Never Say Never." The film has also generated nearly $45 million in DVD sales in the U.S. 16: In May, Jackson lodged his first #1 on the Billboard magazine Dance/ Club Play Songs chart in 16 years with the latest single from his posthumous Michael album, "Hollywood Tonight." 2: Number of posthumous albums that have been released since Michael's death in June 2009. Last year's Michael has sold just over 510,000 copies to date, while the This Is It collection has moved nearly 1 million copies to date in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan. 15,000: The number of videos submitted by fans since March for the crowdsourced video for "Behind the Mask." After they were edited down by a five-person team over two months, the resulting clip used submissions from more than 1,600 participants from 103 countries. 3 million: The amount of copies sold of the Ubisoft "Michael Jackson: The Experience" video game worldwide. $57 million: The reported cost of Cirque du Soleil's traveling MJ show, "The Immortal World Tour, which is slated to kick off on October 2. $1 billion: That gaudy figure is the reported amount the Jackson estate had generated by last June on the first anniversary of the singer's death. According to Billboard, the revenue was generated by a combination of music sales ($429 million), film/TV revenue ($392 million), music publishing ($130 million), licensing ($35 million) and a $31 million recording contract. (A spokesperson for Jackson's estate declined to provide updated figures for this story.) $310 million: The amount of gross earnings reported by the executors of the estate in a December 2010 court filing detailing the progress made in paying off the $400 million in debt run up by the spendthrift singer during his lifetime. 16.1 million: MJ was always a big singles artist. Yes, Thriller is one of the best-selling albums of all time, but even in death, fans can't resist cherry-picking some of Michael's best songs. That explains why he's sold more than 16 million digital tracks since June 28, 2009, the first sales week following his passing, according to Nielsen SoundScan. To put that in perspective, from the time Nielsen began counting digital tracks in 2004 until the week before Jackson's death, the singer had sold just over 8.1 million digital tracks, a figure that has doubled in just the past two years. 2013: The projected launch for a second, non-touring Cirque show celebrating Jackson. The yet-untitled show is slated to open in the spring of 2013 at a new theater being built at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. $25 million to $50 million: That's how much Jackson's estate takes in on an annual basis thanks to his stake in the half-million-song Sony/ATV catalog, which includes titles by Elvis, Lady Gaga, Eminem, Beyoncé and Bob Dylan. Lady Gaga MTV VMA 2011 Performance Video

Lady Gaga’s MTV VMA 2011 performance (video below) was a bit like a rejected scene from West Side Story–but it worked. She didn’t come out in a shiny, epic costume. Instead, she took on the persona of a character from You And I. Then came the weirdness… Let’s be honest. The opening of the VMAs fell a little flat. The melodramatic opening was kicked off by Gaga and her slicked back, greaser look. She ranted for what felt like twenty minutes from the perspective of a bitter boyfriend, who was jealous that his girl was getting all the attention. I was wondering how she could pull off a different performance, something unexpected and memorable. Well, she did. Finally, the music started, the smoke cleared, and Gaga’s voice rang through the PA system. She pulled off an inspiring, emotional performance, and it is clear that she puts everything she has into her music and performances. I will say that the performance did nothing to quell the jokers out there, who say she has man parts – if you know what I mean. The girl has cojones and is definitely a force to be reckoned with. Definitely the right choice to kick Source: http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/RightCelebrity/~3/EuZil9RWeXU/Chelsea Handler

Ke$ha Touched By Fan's Tattoo

Singer tells MTV News about gay fan inspired by her song 'Animal.'By Gil Kaufman Ke$ha Photo: MTV News Ke$ha knows all about the perks of being a headliner. On her Get $leazy Tour, the singer gets to call all the shots, blast her fans in the face with tons of glitter and handpick which dudes she wants to party and share the stage with. But it's not all backstage shenanigans and groupie love. When MTV News sat down with the "Blow" singer in New York earlier this week before her gig at Roseland Ballroom, Ke$ha said that amid the nightly onstage parties there have also been some poignant moments on her first headlining outing. "Best moment? There are so many. Every night's amazing. I have kids outside right now chanting my name and it's awesome," she said of the first leg of the tour. "There was one night a fan came onstage, I invited him onstage, and he had a tattoo of the dollar sign. I was like, 'Oh, that's awesome! Badass. You're part of the cult, man.' " And then, she said, he began to cry and explained that he was able to come out of the closet to his friends and family thanks to her song "Animal." "And I'm standing onstage about to sing a song about growing back a pair of testicles and I had tears rolling down my face and chills all over my body," she said. "Because that's really the reason I do music, to inspire people to be themselves." Ke$ha has been a vocal supporter of the "It Gets Better" video project, which aims to help gay, bisexual and transgender youth find hope in the face of teasing and bullying. The "Get $leazy" juggernaut continues on Saturday night with a show at Clarion University in Clarion, Pennsylvania. Are you planning to see Ke$ha on her Get $leazy Tour? Tell us in the comments. 'The Hunger Games' Teaser Trailer

Those who stayed up to watch the end of the MTV VMAs Sunday night, got a special treat: a sneak peek at the first video footage from the big-screen adaptation of The Hunger Games. Those who didn't stay up, who didn't have the required elecricity (thanks, Hurricane Irene!) or who have already seen the clip but want to have another look can watch the film's first trailer in all its fire-tinged, teaser-rific glory below Get More: 2011 VMA, Music Lionsgate, the studio behind the film, had already treated fans of Suzanne Collins' beloved trilogy of young-adult novels, to first-look photos of the film's three main cast members: 21-year-old Winter's Bone Oscar nominee Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen, 18-year-old The Kids Are All Right star Josh Hutcherson as Peeta Mellark and 21-year-old Last Song actor Liam Hemsworth as Gale Hawthorne. This, however, is the first video footage to be released thus far, and -- while it doesn't offer much in the way of the film's plot -- it certainly conveys a sense of the tone and overall look that director Gary Ross is going for. Of course, it's also cool to see Jennifer Lawrence in action as Katniss. In the minute-long clips she shows off her athletic prowess, sprinting through a lush green forest, dodging fire-engulfed falling trees -- and, ultimately, leaping over a felled tree, deftly placing an arrow in her bow and firing it off, all in one fluid motion. And she does all this while her pal and hunting partner Gale gives her one heck of a pep talk in voiceover. "You're stronger than they are," he tells Katniss. "They just want a good show, that's all they want. You know how to hunt. Show them how good you are." As anyone who's read the books knows, that inspirational speech is meant to prepare Katniss for the titular Hunger Games, a televised battle where children from each "district" in a post-apocalyptic world engage in an all-out fight to the death. That battle will rage when The Hunger Games hits theaters on March 23, 2012.Source: http://www.ivillage.com/hunger-games-teaser-trailer/1-a-377456Jennie Finch

Chris Cornell Filling In For Robert Plant On Led Zeppelin Tour? That's News To Him

'I have not been approached to fill in for Robert Plant on the Zeppelin tour, but that isn't to say I won't be,' singer says.By Chris Harris Chris Cornell Photo: MTV News Former Soundgarden and Audioslave frontman Chris Cornell has spoken out for the first time about rumors that he's been asked to fill in for Robert Plant on a proposed Led Zeppelin reunion tour. The trek would feature original guitarist Jimmy Page, original bassist John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham taking over on drums for his late father, John Bonham. Cornell has been mentioned — along with Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl, former Van Halen frontman Sammy Hagar, White Stripes mastermind Jack White and Alter Bridge's Myles Kennedy — as a potential Plant fill-in. Plant has already said that he wouldn't take part in the tour. "I have not been approached so far to fill in for Robert Plant on the upcoming Zeppelin tour, but that isn't to say I won't be," Cornell told MTV News. "I've heard that from about 200 people now, and it might be one of those situations where it's just an online rumor or it might be true. But if you see anyone from Led Zeppelin around, let me know. I think I should actually fill in for Jimmy Page on the Robert Plant/ Alison Krauss tour." Cornell's denial comes just a day after Aerosmith guitarist Brad Whitford confirmed reports that frontman Steven Tyler recently met with Zeppelin for an impromptu jam session. "They did it for fun," Whitford said during an appearance on the syndicated show "Todd N Tyler Radio Empire." "I actually think Jimmy wanted Steven to come over and play a little bit because I think he was trying to light a fire under Robert." Rumors of a Zeppelin reunion tour have abounded since the iconic band played a single reunion set last year at London's O2 Arena. Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider added fuel to the fire last month when he revealed that the group was thinking of touring, with or without Plant. According to Snider, the rest of the band told Plant, " 'We're all rehearsed, we're ready to go. Here's a gazillion dollars on the table. If you don't do it, we're going out with this kid .' " "And he can sing the sh-- out of Zeppelin," Snider added. "They're going to hope that Robert, at the last minute, will go, 'OK,' and step in." In a recent interview, Jones told BBC Radio Devon that a new singer was being sought to take over for Plant. "We are trying out a couple of singers," he said. "We want to do it. It's sounding great, and we want to get on and get out there." But Jones insists that he, Page and Bonham aren't interested in finding a Plant clone. "It's got to be right," he said. "There's no point in just finding another Robert. You could get that out of a tribute band, but we don't want to be our own tribute band. There would be a record and a tour, but everyone has to be onboard." Of course, even if Zeppelin were to approach him, Cornell might be too busy to take over vocals for the band. His upcoming Timbaland-produced solo LP, Scream, will be released within the next few months. Cornell told MTV News last month that some of his fans might consider Scream something of a departure, but he doesn't see it that way. "It makes me happy that there's this perception that I have a group of fans that I'm now sort of throwing a curve at and what their reaction will be," he said. "But I've been in this situation so many times already. When I put out Euphoria Morning, my main goal was to create an album that sounded like nothing I'd done in Soundgarden, and I did that. I also had that with Temple of the Dog, where I showed up with songs that weren't necessarily riff-based. And then, of course, the pairing of me and members of Rage Against the Machine had everyone sort of speculating about what that would sound like. "It feels like I've done this so many times that when it's presented to me as being a departure, I feel that's a misconception," he added. "I feel like that's my theme at this point." George Lucas was among the star studded guests to witness the nuptials. The couple, along with their daughters, were spotted in the Italian town earlier this week, ahead of their wedding on Saturday. Her gown? A beautiful lavender number designed just for her by Azzedine Alaïa. Simple, yet elegant. Her husband wore a dark blue suit and looked quite handsome! Leonardo Chiruzzi, the mayor of Bernalda, was the officiant and told the Associated Press, “Everything went well. It was simple, calm, in the garden.” The Palazzo Margherita was the setting for their ceremony, the historic property turned into a luxurious family villa owned by her father, famed director Francis Ford Coppola. He, of course, walked his only daughter down the aisle. Following the ceremony, a reception was held in their honor where the menu included roast pork, fish, pasta and served with wine made from the family’s farm. A vanilla cake decorated with white flowers finished off guests’ palates. Other guests that were on hand to celebrate the couple’s marriage were Sofia’s aunt, Talia Shire, and Johnny Depp. Source: http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/RightCelebrity/~3/aT4o-K9ckOE/Jessica Simpson

'Our Idiot Brother': The Reviews Are In!

Paul Rudd, in the title role, walks away with much of the critics' praise in this ensemble comedy.By Terri Schwartz Paul Rudd and Elizabeth Banks in "Our Idiot Brother" Photo: Big Beach Films Even with strong performances from the ensemble cast in "Our Idiot Brother," the Sundance darling is being heralded as Paul Rudd's movie. Reviews for the comedy, which opened on Friday (August 25), are heralding Rudd's turn as one of the best of his career. And although the response has been generally positive, critics did take issue with some of the other idiotic parts of the movie. Some found the script's approach to the characters too formulaic: Rudd's character might be an idiot, but he is actually a commendable guy when compared to his three jaded sisters, his hippie ex-girlfriend and his wine-drinking mother. Others thought the movie was a bit unconvincing despite its well-meaning message. Still, the jump from "My Idiot Brother" at Sundance to "Our Idiot Brother" in wide-release seems to imply a more inclusive element to the film that resounded with critics. So will "Our Idiot Brother" charm you? Here's what the critics had to say: The Idiot Brother "Though the ensemble cast is uniformly strong, this is Rudd's film. His inherent likability and genial manner are ideal for the character. He plays laid-back especially well. (His aging surfer dude in 'Forgetting Sarah Marshall' was a variation on Ned.) Watching Rudd bring dimension to what could have been a clownish caricature is the best reason to see this good-natured family comedy. 'Our Idiot Brother' is as irresistible and easy to love as a golden retriever." — Claudia Puig, USA Today The Characters "Peeking out from a curtain of shaggy hair and a beard, Rudd invests Ned with every ounce of the effusive, natural warmth that has become his trademark. And like so many movies in his career, he makes Our Idiot Brother much more tolerable than it deserves to be. Screenwriters Evgenia Peretz and David Schisgall play up Ned's innocence by making his sisters thoroughly unappealing: Emily Mortimer plays a dowdy, sad-sack hausfrau married to a pompous documentarian (played with withering contempt by Steve Coogan); Elizabeth Banks flails in a misguided brunet pageboy as a ruthless Vanity Fair reporter; and Zooey Deschanel lends spaced-out self-absorption to a lesbian tempted by a similarly navel-gazing male artist." — Ann Hornaday, The Washington Post The Script "You want to laugh at this, except the movie is forcing you to do so. Adultery and dysfunction are cute problems. Deschanel's character shares a loft with her girlfriend (Rashida Jones, underutilized again and still the best thing here) and a gang of bohemians who don't get up to anything interesting. Though Deschanel's compulsion to play another Quirky Performance Artist is satisfied. Banks (shrill careerist) and Mortimer (neurotic wimp) conform to type, too. Ned makes their relationships harder than they already appear to be. He's a gimmick, and yet without him the movie is just Hanna-Barbera and Her Sisters. Either way, it's all emotionally counterfeit, and that bogusness infects the comedy." — Wesley Morris, The Boston Globe The Direction "Efficiently directed by Jesse Peretz, (Ms. Peretz's brother, evidently quite capable), Our Idiot Brother is a thin, unconvincing movie made likable by the charm and skill of its cast and by a script (by Ms. Peretz and her husband, David Schisgall) peppered with wit and insight. ... A handful of scenes — a visit to a cultish self-help seminar, a family game of charades with Mom (Shirley Knight), a profile interview gone off the rails — are sharp, funny and surprising. But the filmmakers mostly look for humor in obvious, picked-over places. Can we please have a moratorium on private-school interviews? Like yoga classes (which this movie blessedly leaves alone), they are hard in real life and suspiciously easy in movies." — A.O. Scott, The New York Times The Final Word " My Idiot Brother might have made Ned more of a symbol and less of a person. Where the filmmakers, and Mr. Rudd, go right is making him such a round and sympathetic figure, rather than the desperate, pathetic and/or slapstick character he might have been in different hands. Our Idiot Brother — not My or Your or Their idiot brother — is goofily funny, and silly, and in many ways follows the currents of contemporary comedy into the gulf stream of inanity. And yet Ned turns out to be a strangely moving figure, a comic foil worthy of affection, perhaps even respect." — John Anderson, The Wall Street Journal Check out everything we've got on "Our Idiot Brother." Michael Jackson Family Announces Tribute Concert

Lineup for October show in Cardiff, Wales, will be revealed August 3.By Gil Kaufman Siblings LaToya, Tito, Jackie and Marlon Jackson after announcing 'Michael Forever,' in Beverly Hills July 25, 2011. Photo: AFP/Getty Images Michael Jackson's family has announced a tribute concert to the late King of Pop that is slated to take place on October 8 in Cardiff, Wales. The four-hour show at the 75,000-capacity Millennium Stadium will be broadcast via satellite on pay-per-view and into movie theaters with a cast of big-name performers whose identities have not yet been revealed. At the Beverly Hills press conference on Monday revealing the details of the "Michael Forever" show, Jackson family matriarch Katherine was joined by sons Tito, Jackie and Marlon and daughter LaToya; siblings Jermaine, Randy, Janet and estranged husband Joe were not in attendance. "When I was told some of the names of the artists performing, I knew it would be fit for a king. If my son was here today he would feel the same way, and so I'd like to say thank you very much for helping to keep my son's legacy alive," Katherine Jackson said of Michael, who died in June 2009 of a heart attack caused by a prescription drug overdose. According to Wales Online, the show will feature artists Jackson admired and will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the start of his solo career. "I will be there along with as many members of my family that can make it," Katherine said. "It is intended to be the biggest and best concert in the world for many years to come." LaToya added, "This event is far, far overdue. He was an entertainer who I feel no one can ever stand up to or hold a candle to as far as his talent is concerned. This tribute will be something spectacular and I know that he would approve." One of the show's producers said that despite taking place in a large stadium, the event will have a more intimate atmosphere with the building's roof closed. Proceeds from the show will benefit three charities Jackson supported: the Prince's Trust, AIDS Project Los Angeles and a cancer charity. The show's lineup will be announced on August 3. As with many things related to MJ's legacy, there was controversy, as brothers Randy and Jermaine said they thought the timing of the show was inappropriate. In a statement, the two said, "While we wholeheartedly support the spirit of a tribute that honors our brother, we find it impossible to support an event that is due to take place during the criminal trial surrounding Michael's death. As everyone knows, those proceedings commence September 20." That date is when Jackson's former doctor, Conrad Murray, is slated to go on trial for manslaughter charges in the singer's death. Jermaine attempted to put on a tribute concert to his late brother in September 2009, but the show fell apart after many of the top acts were unable to commit to the event. 'Conan The Barbarian' Cheat Sheet: Everything You Need To Know

MTV News has been with the reboot throughout its rocky road to release.By Eric Ditzian Jason Momoa in "Conan the Barbarian" Photo: Simon Varsano/ Lionsgate Entertainment "Conan the Barbarian" star Jason Momoa hasn't actually seen the previous versions of his sword-swinging adventure — or, as he once put it to MTV News, "the Arnold stuff" — but we have clear-enough memories to know Schwarzenegger's franchise became straight-up silly after the 1982 original and was in desperate need of contemporary reinvention. Robert E. Howard's barbaric creation deserved better than a faceoff with Wilt Chamberlain in "Conan the Destroyer." Conan finally got it, with Momoa's new film hitting theaters on Friday (August 19). But there was a long and rocky path toward that theatrical release, with filmmakers joining then quickly departing the project and various Hollywood players being unable to kick things into production. Come with us on a journey called the MTV News cheat sheet, as we discover everything there is to know about the past, present and future of "Conan the Barbarian." Forging Steel The Wachowski Brothers tried. Robert Rodriguez tried. Brett Ratner tried. No director could seem to get "Conan" off the ground, despite years of effort. Actors rumored for the title role included Dolph Lundgren, "American Gladiator" star Mike O'Hearn, Austrian actor Roland Kickinger and "Twilight" vampire Kellan Lutz. Rumors of directors and actors came and went, but in the end two men remained standing: "Friday the 13th" director Marcus Nispel, who signed up in June 2009, and Momoa, who officially nabbed the Conan role in January 2010. Lionsgate readied a March production start in Bulgaria. With just weeks until cameras began rolling, word broke that the script was getting a rewrite from "Halloween: Resurrection" scribe Sean Hood. Swinging the Sword "I think we're right in the spirit of Howard," Stephen Lang, who plays the film's central villain, told MTV News during a phone call from the set last spring. "One of the things about his prose that's so distinct is that it takes itself very seriously. There's nothing tongue-in-cheek about it at all. And there's nothing send-up about the world we're creating, though hopefully the movie is made with a lot of wit." The spring also brought looks at Momoa in character: one of him standing tall and looking buff, another of him in bloodied-up action mode. "It kind of is an origin story," Momoa told MTV News. "It's rebuilding and rebooting the franchise. It starts with his birth, what happened to his family, what happened to his father — obviously his father is killed — and him going into the pirating and the thieving and wandering and being the degenerate that he is and then usurping a throne and finding out who killed his father. It's a revenge story, with a little bit of love in there." Lang also revealed that the film would stay faithful to the source material's supernatural roots. "If you read Robert Howard — of course the 'Conan' stories and novellas — magic, supernatural plays a huge, huge part in them: fakirs and magicians and wizards all over the place," Lang told MTV News last summer. "So magic is part of that world. The magic in this film, there's a lot of it and there's a lot of action-magic as well, a lot of magical fighting." Drawing Blood The first "Conan" trailer — a teaser that invoked an '80s nostalgia — popped up online in March of this year. It'd be another two months until a full trailer hit the Web; when it did, the footage showed off a whole lot of swords, bloody action and magical monsters. We finally got a chance to see Lang in action after all those shots of Momoa as the sword-wielding hero. "I wanted him to be like a knife," Lang told us of his character. "I wanted him, in profile, to almost disappear if possible. I actually have some photos that I am forbidden to show right now. I know there are these photos of Jason out there, this gorgeous stud of a Conan leaping around shirtless. Truth of the matter is, I kick his ass for almost two hours." An integral piece of Momoa's Conan character development was not to be influenced by Schwarzenegger's iconic performance. "I've never played a role that was played by someone else," he told us. "As an actor, to build the character, I wanted to use my imagination and be creative and use my own interpretation. ... I want to see mine and then I'm going to watch that one — back to back!" Britney Spears' VMA Promo: Go Behind The Scenes!

Promo reflects on Brit's career and inspirations while looking ahead to August 28 awards show.By Christina Garibaldi Britney Spears in her 2011 VMA promo Photo: Roderick Trestrail II/ MTV On Thursday (August 11), Britney Spears took over MTV when her Video Music Awards promo made its debut and MTV News was there when she filmed it. The 30-second promo interlaces Spears' latest hit "I Wanna Go" with her own "Slave 4 U," Janet Jackson's "Rhythm Nation" and Madonna's "Everybody" as dancers dressed in Brit's most-famous outfits crowd around her. There's also a nod to Michael Jackson, with a poster on the wall that says "Billy Jean," in reference to MJ's hit "Billie Jean," and a dancer who mimics the late King of Pop's iconic moves. At the end of the promo, Spears stands in front of a wall that cryptically reads "A Tribute to Britney Spears" before the date of the VMAs — 8.28 — flashes on the screen. Spears, whose "Till the World Ends" is nominated for Best Pop Video and Best Choreography, filmed the promo last month in Miami, and MTV News was on the set for a behind-the-scenes look. "The general concept of what we are going for is basically called 'The Muse Factory,' " director Jahai Brightly explained. "It's where all your favorite artists that are going to be at the Video Music Awards this year meet and explore their influences and inspirations." The promo pulls from Spears' own musical influences from over the years, which is portrayed through the set design, wardrobe and, of course, through Brit herself. In the promo, Spears pays homage to Madonna, Michael and Janet, whom she calls "the people I've grown up listening to and totally inspire ." The promo doesn't just show the pop star's own musical icons; it also reminds us of what a musical force Spears is as well. "We are going to be exploring her past styles," Brightly said of Spears' classic looks. "In particular, past six styles that represent each of her albums, with the seventh one being the current incarnation." Spears, whose outfit was designed to represent her current style, is dressed in a custom-made studded leather jacket, a shredded black T-shirt and her signature cutoff jean shorts. The promo begins with Spears paying homage to her latest album, Femme Fatale. "I did the opening segment, where I'm at the mirror and I'm representing how many albums I've done, which is number seven," Spears said. Spears then begins her journey down memory lane, where she is surrounded by dancers dressed up in some of her signature video looks, such as the flight-attendant costume in "Toxic" and her infamous red catsuit in "Oops! ... I Did It Again." "I'm walking down a hallway and I'm seeing memorabilia of all my performances that I've done in the past," Spears said. "All my dancers are dressed up in my old outfits, which it's really cool." What do you think of Britney's VMA promo? Let us know in the comments! Hurricane Irene Survival Tips 'Jersey Shore'-Style

After flying to L.A. for the VMAs, the cast shares how they would have endured the storm's charge through New Jersey.By Eric Ditzian Pauly D and Vinny Guadagnino Photo: MTV News "We've warned the public," New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg announced on Saturday as Hurricane Irene shut down most of the East Coast, "and now we have to deal with Mother Nature." That's when the cast of the "Jersey Shore" took out their grenade whistle and declared: So long, ladies! The storm whipped through the Tri-State area early Sunday morning (August 28), leaving thousands in New Jersey and Long Island without power, and causing dangerous floods in the Garden State. But housemates Snooki, Vinny, Deena and Sammi were safe and dry, having sauntered aboard a private jet and zipped away from the tri-state area and toward Los Angeles for the VMAs, pausing only for Vinny to tweet a picture of himself at the controls of the aircraft. "I was flying the plane, but that was on the ground. I was just messing around in the cockpit," he told us alongside his castmates a few hours after touching down in La La Land. "Being on a private jet, it's not that bad — except it didn't have wi-fi. Could you believe it?" Pauly couldn't, turning to his pal and declaring, "You've changed, bro! When your private jet doesn't have wi-fi and you gotta complain about it — Vinny problems!" Then again, they haven't changed much at all. Their suggestions for hurricane preparedness included battery-powered hairdryers, a healthy dose of GTL, and the suggestion, "If you're by the water, just be more not by the water." Luckily for them (and, perhaps, their old Jersey stomping grounds), the reality stars were far from the hurricane's path. Because if they were in the Heights, despite Irene's wrath, the "Shore" kids would be staging one heck of a bash. "We'd have a lights-out party," Pauly said. "You party for the whole duration," Added Ronnie, "Hey, a bottle of Ron-ron juice, let's go!" The 28th annual MTV Video Music Awards will air live Sunday from Los Angeles at 9 p.m. ET/PT, following the Selena Gomez-hosted pre-show at 8. 'Jersey Shore' Stars Make Their VMA Picks

Bruno Mars' 'Grenade' is Pauly D's favorite to take home a Moonman on Sunday night.By Jocelyn Vena, with additional reporting by Christina Garibaldi Deena and Snooki make their 2011 VMA picks Photo: MTV News At the Video Music Awards, the hottest names in pop culture come together at what ends up looking like one big televised party. And of course, the cast of "Jersey Shore" would never miss a party, which is why they hopped on a last-minute private jet to escape Hurricane Irene and get to L.A. in time for the show. But before the VMA partying gets under way, MTV News sat down with the cast and got them to talk serious business: guessing which artists will take home the Moonmen on Sunday night (August 28). Bruno Mars, Justin Bieber, Cee-Lo Green, Kanye West and Eminem are all battling it out in the Best Male Video category. After some back and forth about who should take it home, Jersey housemates were still pretty split between the nominees, but the standouts were Bieber, Eminem and Kanye West. "If I was like 13, I'd hit that," Snooki said of 17-year-old Bieber. Pauly D was partial to Bruno's "Grenade," for obvious reasons. "Thank you for making a song about the girls my friend takes home," he joked. "Thanks, bro." The cast spent about as much time arguing about the pronunciation of Nicki Minaj's "Super Bass," as they did discussing the nominees for Best Female Video: Katy Perry, Adele, Minaj, Lady Gaga and Beyoncé. But in the end, they seemed to think it was really only a two-woman race between Beyoncé and Gaga. So, why does Ronnie think Beyonce will win? "I'm gonna with Beyoncé 'cause she wins every category that she's in," he said (defying logic and facts, we might add). The experts have also been placing bets on who might nab Best Female at the VMAs. "I feel like Adele has to win one of these and this may be the one, just because among these people, she also feels like the outlier," Entertainment Weekly staff writer Kyle Anderson explained. "Everybody else is very polished and in the mainstream, and I like an outlier." The 28th annual MTV Video Music Awards is underway. Natalie Portman First Post-Baby Film Role: Playing Angela Lansbury's Mom?

Is Natalie Portman's maternity leave over? The actress, who gave birth to son Aleph in June, is reportedly in "informal" talks for the lead role in a new indie drama. According to TheWrap, the 30-year-old Black Swan actress has been offered the starring role in Adaline, an indie film about a woman who stops aging after a strange accident. According to an earlier press release, the character "was killed in a car accident, until a simultaneous lightning strike resuscitated her and physiologically locked her in her late 20s. Adaline lives a solitary existence until she meets a man worth losing her immortality for." Katherine Heigl was originally attached to star, but dropped out in November. While the film sounds cool, the news is surprising -- if only because Portman seemed so excited about taking a long maternity leave. "I imagine I'm going to want to be home for years, just me and my baby," she told Newsweek in January. She did, however, note that her friends told her otherwise: "Everybody says after two months you go out of your mind." Maybe Portman is being tempted by Adaline because of the rare opportunity to work with another great actress: Angela Lansbury. The 85-year-old actress -- who has five Tonys, 15 Emmy nominations and three Oscar nominations -- has taken only two film roles in the past decade. If Portman signs on to play the immortal lead character, she won't only get to star with Lansbury -- she'll get to play her mother! That's an offer she won't get again, and perhaps reason enough for husband Benjamin Millepied to stay home with the baby for awhile. See our gallery of Natalie Portman's big year!Source: http://www.ivillage.com/natalie-portman-first-post-baby-film-role-playing-angela-lansburys-mom/1-a-376401Cheryl Burke
