Lady Gaga Calls 'Judas' Leak 'A Slow Death'
Gaga opens up about the Born This Way creative process in latest 'Gagavision.'By Jocelyn Vena Lady Gaga Photo: Tom Briglia/ WireImage This week's "Gagavision" theme is "Music From Born This Way," as Gaga revealed more details about her May 23 album release. The video includes a possible preview of one of the album's tracks, shots from her forthcoming HBO special and her thoughts on last week's leak of her latest single, "Judas." Perhaps a tease to one of the album's tracks, the music for the "Gagavision" video includes a song that starts off with slow, dramatic church-organ keyboard notes as Gaga says, "My fans are my sunshine. They are the sunshine in the darkness of the arena. "Looking out into the darkness, I feel really fearless and strong and brave." A montage of Gaga rehearsing and making phone calls and her fans holding up signs plays as the song's synth tempo picks up. Dressed like a space-age Cruella De Vil, Gaga heads off to do a promo. "The greatest challenge in writing Born This Way is I had to become confident and secure in myself," she explained. "I had to leave my insecurity behind, whatever residual scars behind. I spent two years delving deep into my wombs; the blood transfusion." The video even addresses the "Judas" leak that took place right before she released it to the masses on April 15. She likens it to a disembodiment, saying, "A slow death! Just put me out of my f---ing misery, just put that sh-- out. They were tearing limb for limb. First it was the arm of the song, then the liver. ... "I wrote it really quick," she later says, while lounging fully clothed in an empty bathtub. "I mean, all of the songs on the album, to be completely candid, the creative process is approximately 15-minutes process. It's 15 minutes of vomiting my creative ideas in the forms of melodies, usually, or chord progressions and melodies and some sort of a theme, lyric idea. And then I spend days, weeks, months, years fine tuning. But the idea is, you honor your vomit." The video ends with Gaga teasing her Monster Ball and the "polarizing" cover art for Born This Way. Fittingly, new teasers for her HBO special, which was taped at her Monster Ball shows at Madison Square Garden earlier this year, also hit the Net. The special airs May 7. In one promo, Gaga hits the streets of New York City dressed in a studded leather jacket and high platform (and heelless) ankle boots, as "Born This Way" plays in the background. It leads to shots of the madness at MSG leading up to the show, which is eventually teased in the clip. In the second, shorter preview, shots of her performance is teased while her new single, "Judas," plays. Justin Bieber Pestered By Paparazzi In Israel

In March, while celebrating his 17th birthday in Los Angeles, the teen sensation gave the paps who tried to snap a photo of him and lady love Selena Gomez the middle finger — although the Biebs soon apologized for it. Well, now that he's abroad taking his My World tour international, he's still finding himself pestered by the photographers' prying lenses. On Tuesday, he took to Twitter to call out the paparazzi for trying to snap photos of him while he was in Israel taking in the sights. "Staying in the hotel for the rest of the week u happy?" he wrote. "People wait their whole lives for opportunities like this, why would they want to take that experience away from someone. They should be ashamed of themselves. Take pictures of me eating but not in a place of prayer, ridiculous." Bieber was particularly upset that photographers didn't leave him alone while he visited sites of spiritual significance. "You would think paparazzi would have some respect in holy places," he lamented. "All I wanted was the chance to walk where Jesus did here in Israel." Just one day before, Bieber tweeted about his excitement over being in Israel. "Just amazing place...not a bad day. just wish got a little more space and privacy from the paps to enjoy this time with my family. Thanks," he wrote. "I'm in the holy land and i am grateful for that. I just want to have the same personal experience that others have here." Bieber's post then helped initiate his latest Twitter trend, #papsleavebiebsalone. As of press time it was one of the highest-rated trends, right behind the promoted #PlayBookHaiku. Ja Rule Will Visit 'RapFix Live' On Wednesday

Ja Rule is mounting a comeback in the form of his new album, Pain Is Love 2, and will be joining MTV News' Sway Calloway for an in-depth interview on "RapFix Live" Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET. In the early aughts, Queens rapper Ja Rule was a hip-hop juggernaut. As the face of Irv Gotti's Murder Inc. Records, Ja combined melody with hard rap bars to create fan favorites such as "Put It On Me," "Always On Time" and "Holla, Holla," selling millions of records along the way. His beef with rapper 50 Cent, as well as the federal money-laundering case against Murder Inc. proved to be too much for the multi-platinum rap star to overcome, and eventually Rule faded away from the spotlight. In 2007, things went from bad to worse when Ja was hit with charges stemming from a gun bust outside New York's Beacon Theater after a show he co-billed with Lil Wayne. In December, he pleaded guilty to attempted criminal possession of a weapon; he was sentenced to 16 months in February and will begin his prison bid in June. Before he turns himself in, Ja will release Pain Is Love 2. Last week, he debuted its first single, "Real Life Fantasy," which he performed in New York as a surprise guest on Diddy-Dirty Money's Coming Home Tour. Nicki Minaj 'Really Excited' About Britney Spears Tour

Britney Spears, along with top-line tour opener Nicki Minaj, will get the party started in June in Sacramento, California. Minaj has called the slot "an honor." When MTV News caught up with the Barbie herself in New Orleans for the latest stop on the I Am Still Music Tour, she opened up a bit more about the matchup. "She's definitely iconic and I'm very excited," Minaj explained. "It's weird. I just always remember her, since I was little, ruling the world, so I'm really excited to just expand my fanbase and show people that I can be a part of any world." Minaj is the reigning princess in the hip-hop world, and she feels that hooking up with pop's leading queen will expand her horizons, even if she has to make some changes to her stage show. "Of course I will adjust some things. I definitely will take away that one particular stage prop," she said of one very phallic object, adding that her music and set list will basically stay the same. "We'll add some stuff 'cause I got some new things coming out this summer, some new records." Earlier this week, Minaj called into Ryan Seacrest's radio show, promising that things will be characteristically over-the-top when she hits the road with Spears. "I'm calling to let everyone know how thrilled I am, how honored I am to be going on the road with the iconic Miss Britney Spears this summer. I just know that when the Femme Fatales and the Barbs get together, we're going to kick major ass," she said. "And I am looking forward to creating a new, a bigger, a brighter, a more spectacular show. And I am just really, really excited to make history with Britney, so you guys, make sure you come out this summer." Adam Lambert's 'Whole Lotta Love': The Story Behind The Cover

Mickshaw/Getty Images/ Fox Imagine a freight train speeding toward you at midnight. Or a rockslide barreling down a hill as you try to outrace it. That's the feeling of the ominous, chugging Jimmy Page riff that kicks off Led Zeppelin's 1970 Stonehenge of rock, "Whole Lotta Love." And that's before singer Robert Plant leans into one of the nastiest, ecstatic rock screams this side of the Who's "Won't Get Fooled Again." That's the song Adam Lambert chose to sing on "American Idol" rock night Tuesday (May 5), and, needless to say, it was a challenge that the eyeliner-loving Los Angeles stage veteran was more than up for, hitting a series of high notes and rock screams that would have made Plant proud. It was a risky maneuver that paid off for Lambert, who chose a tune that came in at #75 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the "500 Greatest Songs of All Time" in 2004. The legendary British rock act recorded the tribute to Chicago blues icon Willie Dixon during their second U.S. tour after working it out in their live show, including it on their 1969 classic album Led Zeppelin II. Like many of the songs Zeppelin performed early in their career, "Love" was a blues standard turned on its head with a heavy dose of crunching psychedelic guitar and thundering drums, courtesy of late drummer John Bonham. The song was based on a 1962 tune by another blues forefather, Muddy Waters, called "You Need Love," which was penned by Dixon. For Zeppelin's version, Plant customized the lyrics by adding some lyrical quotes from a few other songs Dixon wrote for Howlin' Wolf, "Back Door Man" and "Shake For Me," nailing the tricky vocal in a single take. It was also inspired by 1966's "You Need Loving" from the British rock group the Small Faces, for whom Zeppelin had great affection, but they also did not credit Dixon for his part in writing the original lyrics. The song became Zeppelin's first U.S. single and their only U.S. top 10 hit. Though their manager would not let them release singles in the U.K. because he thought it cannibalized album sales, the song was finally released as the band's only British single in 1997. Dixon sued Zeppelin over the song in 1985, claiming it borrowed too heavily from his "You Need Love," and Zeppelin reached an agreement with him, with Dixon using the money he received to set up a program that provided musical instruments for schools. A cornerstone of heavy rock, the tune -- which was the theme song for the long-running British countdown show "Top of the Pops" in the 1970s and '80s -- has been covered by dozens of artists over the years, from Tina Turner and Ben Harper to Prince, Slash, Leona Lewis, Train's Pat Monahan, the London Symphony Orchestra and Jane's Addiction. Everything's coming together for the Royal Wedding. With just four days to go until the big day, Kate Middleton's bridal dress preparation is all wrapped up. The wedding gown has been completed. "Kate will have no more fittings," a palace source says of the dress the world will see April 29. "The next time the dress goes on is Friday morning!" Just who designed that historic dress remains the most closely guarded secret in all of England. Last Thursday, British fashion designer Sophie Cranston insisted that rumors are "not true" that she whipped up the frock herself. Kate Middleton, who has shed some serious weight of late to fit into the dress, loves Cranston's label, and recently wore a Libelula coat. Remaining contenders include Sarah Burton, the elegant, whimsical creative director of Alexander McQueen, the late Princess Diana's favorite Bruce Oldfield and boho-chic designer Alice Temperley, among other notable names. Britney Spears Drops Official 'Till The World Ends' Remix
New track with Nicki Minaj, Ke$ha follows leaked version, plus Brit tweets single's cover art.By Jocelyn Vena The "Till the World Ends" Femme Fatale remix Photo: Jive Just days after it was leaked on Friday, Britney Spears and her femme fatales, Nicki Minaj and Ke$ha, dropped their official remix of "Till the World Ends." The new version of the song was produced by Dr. Luke and Dream Machine. Brit half-whispers " 'Till the World Ends' remix" before the beat kicks in and Nicki hits her verse hard. She spits fierce lines like, "Sniff, sniff, cries/ I done slayed your whole entire f---ing life." Then Britney's sex-kitten vocals kick in for the song's first verse. "That's Britney, bitch! I'm Nicki Minaj and that's Ke$ha," the Queens MC declares before K sings the chorus. The beat is harder, the loops are sassier and the song is grimier than the original version, which was the second single from Femme Fatale. The newly added dubstep portion takes the one from "Hold It Against Me" to a new level by adding in bass-heavy synths. Ke$ha, of course, wrote the track for Britney, and the ladies certainly don't seem to mind sharing the spotlight with each other. The official track isn't much different than the version that leaked over the weekend, though Spears did have something brand-new to share with her fans just as the song dropped on iTunes and streamed on her website. Spears tweeted the artwork for the single, which features the original press photo of Spears along with separate photos of Nicki on the left and Ke$ha on the right. Spears wrote, "@NickiMinaj @Keshasuxx Too much fierceness for one cover! Thanks for lending your voices girls... #TTWEREMIX — Brit" Spears and Minaj have been hanging out a lot in the lead-up to their summer tour. Jeremy Renner Cast In 'The Bourne Legacy'
Film is not set to include Matt Damon's Jason Bourne.By Kara Warner Jeremy Renner Photo: Getty Images After months of speculation, Universal has officially named actor Jeremy Renner as the star of "The Bourne Legacy." According to Deadline, the two-time Oscar nominee (for "The Hurt Locker" and "The Town") is expected to "sign on quickly" to play a new character in the spin-off film written and directed by "Bourne" screenwriter Tony Gilroy. Renner will reportedly play an operative from a covert government program that is even more dangerous than the Treadstone brainwashing program that hatched Jason Bourne, memorably played by Matt Damon in the first three hit films. For those who have been following the ups and downs of the "Bourne" saga, Renner's casting is not at all a surprise, given reports that leaked earlier this month saying he had been offered the role. The actor beat out a slew of talented and buzzworthy contenders, which reportedly included Alex Pettyfer, Taylor Kitsch, Dominic Cooper, Garrett Hedlund and Luke Evans. Gilroy has previously stated that although Damon's Bourne will not be a part of "Legacy," he has left the door open for future Bourne-centric films down the road. "The easiest way to think of it is an expansion or a reveal," Gilroy said of his story for "Legacy." "Jason Bourne will not be in this film, but he's very much alive. What happened in the first three films is the trigger for what happens. I'm building a legend and an environment and a wider conspiracy. ... 'Water for Elephants' actress reveals, 'He did have a very runny nose.'By Aly Semigran, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Reese Witherspoon Photo: MTV News On camera, the love scenes between Reese Witherspoon and Robert Pattinson in their period drama "Water for Elephants" — which opens in theaters Friday (April 22) — look glamorous and romantic. Behind the scenes, however, it was anything but. Never mind that both stars were involved in relationships during the filming of the big-screen adaptation (Witherspoon with her now-husband, Jim Toth, and Pattinson with speculated girlfriend Kristen Stewart) but the 24-year-old actor also happened to be fighting a nasty cold. As the "Twilight" hunk revealed during his "MTV First: Robert Pattinson" special, "The love scene in : I was doing it when I had a really bad cold." He went on to divulge, "My nose is running all over the place, and it was in one of the additional photography scenes, and Reese had this wig on, and literally, I was wiping my nose on her wig." And when his Oscar-winning co-star sat down with us, she confirmed it was just as unsavory as he described. "He did have a very runny nose, yeah," she recalled, adding, "It wasn't appealing; it wasn't pleasant." Still, the 35-year-old actress knows that even a runny nose wouldn't deter Pattinson's most fervent fans. Her advice for anyone planning on getting close to RPattz on or off camera: "Bring a Sudafed!" However, when Witherspoon isn't dispensing advice on how to get through a love scene with RPattz, she's enjoying domestic bliss with her husband. In fact, the newlyweds have been finding themselves in the same situation as many couples: compromising what shows to watch on television. The actress said that while she's had to watch the biker drama series "Sons of Anarchy" against her will, she's now turned into "a big fan." But, there was no need to convince the star to watch "Eastbound and Down," the soon-to-be-retired HBO comedy starring Danny McBride. " 'Eastbound and Down' makes me laugh," Witherspoon told MTV News. U.S. Marines Perform Britney Spears' 'Hold It Against Me'
A group of U.S. Marines stationed in Afghanistan seem to be Britney Spears fans and a terrific video of them lip-synching to 'Hold It Against Me' has been making the rounds on YouTube. The members of 266 Rein and HMLA 169, located "somewhere deep in the heart of Afghanistan," put together the clip, complete with some awesome dance moves, choreography and even some special effects. According to the YouTube post, the video took three months to make due to the group's busy schedule. Well, they are both global superstars with a back catalogue of tunes that have kept fans dancing for a really long time and they both recently hooked up with will.i.am for tracks on their latest releases (the Black Eyed Peas mastermind worked on the pop vixen's Femme Fatale tune "Big Fat Bass"). And, if Spears has her way, she and the "OMG" singer could be hitting the road together. When Spears sat down to talk with Sway Calloway for her "Britney Spears: I Am the Femme Fatale" special — airing Sunday (April 3) at 9 p.m. ET on MTV — the singer revealed that Usher is first on her list of artists she'd like to join her on tour. "Oh, I'm so excited. I'm really excited about going on tour, very," she explained about her forthcoming summer trek, which happens to have a spot open on the bill now that Enrique Iglesias has pulled out of the gig. "I think Usher's really great right now. I think he's really hot right now. That would be cool ." The North American road trip is expected to kick off June 17 in Sacramento, California, and will run for 26 dates, winding up on August 13 in Toronto. More details will be announced soon. Taylor Momsen, Tony Hawk, More Define Innovation Before O Music Awards
Most Innovative Music Video award will be handed out live Monday at 4 p.m. ET during online roundtable.By MTV News staff Taylor Momsen Photo: Ian Gavan/Getty Images The O Music Awards are almost upon us, and while the actual awards show doesn't premiere until next Thursday, the first O Music Award for Most Innovative Music Video will be presented Monday at 4 p.m. ET after some spirited debate from acclaimed video director Wayne Isham, Mashable's Brenna Ehrlich and MTV News' James Montgomery. As part of MTV News' countdown to the interactive event — fans can still vote for their favorite boundary-pushing, genre-expanding clip over at the O Music Awards site — we've been asking celebs to describe what innovation means to them. "It's something that definitely is unique, that utilizes either new media or new technologies," said pro skater Tony Hawk. "It's something that keeps you interested, all the way through," "Gossip Girl" actress and Pretty Reckless singer Taylor Momsen added. Rob Sheffield from Rolling Stone said "innovative" doesn't mean expensive or flashy. "It's not the budget, it's not the effects; it's the pizzazz the star is actually bring to the camera," he said. Chidera "Chiddy" Anamege of Chiddy Bang said innovation is about being different. "Just trying to be unconventional," he said. "You say, 'What's unconventional?' It's just doing something that isn't really done." On Monday morning, the original list of 10 nominees will be whittled down to the top five vote-getters, and then, during the debate, our roundtable and the Internet audience will cut that list down to the final three. At the very end, we'll announce the winner of the very first O Music Award for Most Innovative Video. The O Music Awards debate for the Most Innovative Music Video, presented by Fuze, will stream live on OMusicAwards.com and MTV.com at 4 p.m. ET on Monday. Well, they are both global superstars with a back catalogue of tunes that have kept fans dancing for a really long time and they both recently hooked up with will.i.am for tracks on their latest releases (the Black Eyed Peas mastermind worked on the pop vixen's Femme Fatale tune "Big Fat Bass"). And, if Spears has her way, she and the "OMG" singer could be hitting the road together. When Spears sat down to talk with Sway Calloway for her "Britney Spears: I Am the Femme Fatale" special — airing Sunday (April 3) at 9 p.m. ET on MTV — the singer revealed that Usher is first on her list of artists she'd like to join her on tour. "Oh, I'm so excited. I'm really excited about going on tour, very," she explained about her forthcoming summer trek, which happens to have a spot open on the bill now that Enrique Iglesias has pulled out of the gig. "I think Usher's really great right now. I think he's really hot right now. That would be cool ." The North American road trip is expected to kick off June 17 in Sacramento, California, and will run for 26 dates, winding up on August 13 in Toronto. More details will be announced soon. The "Britney Spears: I Am the Femme Fatale" special is a mixture of behind-the-scenes footage of the singer as she wraps up production on her album, which dropped this week, as well as an inside look at her life and fans. Lady Gaga Apologizes For 'Retarded' Comment

Shortly after the song was released, Gaga shared with the world that the pop queen liked the song and gave the pop princess her seal of approval. Now Gaga has once again been asked about the comparisons in a new interview with NME. And she didn't seem pleased by the line of questioning. "That's retarded. If you put the songs next to each other, side by side, the only similarities are the chord progression. It's the same one that's been in disco music for the last 50 years. Just because I'm the first f---ing artist in 25 years to think of putting it on Top 40 radio, it doesn't mean I'm a plagiarist, it means I'm f---ing smart. Sorry." The issue hit newsstands on Tuesday and by late Wednesday night the singer had issued an apology to her fans about her choice of words when defending herself and the chart-topping tune. "I consider it part of my life's work and music to push the boundaries of love and acceptance. My apologies for not speaking thoughtfully," she said in a statement to Perezhilton.com. "To anyone that was hurt, please know that it was furiously unintentional. An honest mistake requires honesty to make." She then went on to quote some lyrics from the feel-good dance track: "Whether life's disabilities left you outcast, bullied or teased, rejoice and love yourself today." Them Crooked Vultures make their debut with a post-Lollapalooza set.By James Montgomery Dave Grohl (file) Photo: Jewel Samad/AFP/Getty Images Officially, Lollapalooza ended Sunday night in Chicago's Grant Park, with dueling sets from the Killers and Jane's Addiction. Unofficially, it ended very early Monday morning, across town at venerable rock club the Metro, with a surprise show by Them Crooked Vultures. To the unfamiliar, the Vultures might seem like an odd choice to close out Lolla weekend ... until you realize that they're made up of Foo Fighters frontman/ former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl, Queens of the Stone Age mastermind Josh Homme and Led Zeppelin legend John Paul Jones. And their gig at the Metro was their world premiere. According to some reports, the Vultures actually turned down Lollapalooza founder Perry Farrell's request to replace the Beastie Boys as headliners at the festival, opting to debut in front of some 1,100 super-psyched fans at the Metro, rather than 75,000 in Grant Park (tickets for the gig were announced via Foo Fighter/ QOTSA fan clubs). Meaning that, in a lot of ways, this was the most sought-after ticket in town. Taking the stage just after midnight, the Vultures — Grohl on drums (of course), Homme on guitar and vocals, Jones on bass and keys and frequent QOTSA contributor Alain Johannes on guitar — ripped through 12 songs in 80 minutes, all taken from their upcoming debut, which may or may not be called Never Deserved the Future, and may or may not be hitting stores on October 23 (early "promo" videos touting both those facts were revealed over the weekend to be hoaxes perpetrated by QOTSA fans). The songs, with appropriately Homme-ian titles like "Scumbag Blues," "Mind Eraser (No Chaser)," "Caligulove" and "Interlude w/Ludes," sounded pretty much how you'd expect, given the band's pedigree. They rocked, hard — Chicago Tribune critic Greg Kot described them as "fresh, invigorating and just plain nasty" — delving off into psychedelic, reverb-filled excursions and exploring proggy territory, "both of the old-school Yes variety, and the more modern Tool flavor," according to the Chicago Sun-Times' Jim DeRogatis. It's not known if Monday's Metro performance was a one-off event for the Vultures — there have been whispers of a full-blown tour, but a spokesperson for Homme had not responded to MTV News' request for comment at press time. Nor was it clear whether or not they'll have an album out in October. Early Monday, a Crooked Vultures Twitter account, which had previously posted links to the band's official-looking Web site and the Metro's online ticketing site — posted a link to what appears to be the group's first bit of official merchandise: a Deserve the Future T-shirt. Kings Of Leon's 'Talihina Sky': All Roads Lead Home
Documentary peels back the lore to reveal a band unquestionably shaped by its roots.By James Montgomery Kings of Leon's Caleb Followill in "Talihina Sky" Photo: Phear Creative There is perhaps no band whose backstory has garnered as much attention as the Kings of Leon, and with good reason. They are, after all, the prodigal preacher's sons (and nephew) who tapped into the rebellious power of rock and roll and rose from the backwoods to the big stage, a journey that — aside from all the sex and drugs and mustaches — is practically ripped from American folklore. So it would seem almost inevitable that their rise would someday be chronicled in a feature film, one that imbues their career with the spirit of the Holy Ghost and doesn't skimp on the particulars of all that sex and drugs (and 'staches). And here it is: "Talihina Sky: The Story of Kings of Leon," a far-reaching documentary that premiered Thursday night at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York. Directed by longtime Kings friend Stephen Mitchell, produced by Casey McGrath and Phear Creative (and executive-produced by the band itself), "Talihina" is a rock doc in the purest sense of the phrase: full of unedited, unwinding (and frequently un-sober) interviews with the Followill boys (frontman Caleb's bleary-eyed, Jameson-and-marijuana soaked sitdown is a real doozy); tour-bus shouting matches; honest, teary conversations with their family members and friends and, of course, a whole lot of grainy, slightly embarrassing VHS footage of the Kings as kids. It certainly doesn't hold anything back. And while, at times, it strays a little too close to deifying the band (or at least their voyage to the top of the charts), it strips away everything you've probably read about them, and, in the process, provides the clearest glimpse to date into what makes them tick. In that regard, the film is not only a success, but one of the most compelling music documentaries you'll ever see. Because no matter how hard the media tries to romanticize their early years, "Talihina" doesn't. We learn that brothers Caleb, Nathan and Jared grew up poor, the children of a preacher for whom money was an afterthought and a mother who believed in nothing more than the power of religion. We learn that the boys hated all of those facts, that they suffered when their parents divorced and that they felt betrayed when they learned that their father — the man they viewed as an infallible totem of morality — was just another man, one who had demons of his own. To combat that, they turned to their extensive family — no less than six uncles are interviewed in the film, some of whom may not even be their uncles at all — and the solace of annual retreats in Talihina, Oklahoma ... long, boozy weekends filled with horseshoe games and crawfish grabbing in ruddy creeks. In the grand American tradition, this is where they learned to be men, or at least learned to approximate what they felt a man should be. Of course, they also found solace in recreational drug use and Pixies records and, from there, the roots of the band took hold. We learn very little about their formation, instead, we're quickly whisked away to England, where the Kings became overnight sensations (and media curio cases), partying hard, sleeping around and, really, also learning how to be men. That duality makes up the core of not just the film, but the band itself. On one hand, the Kings have never left their roots behind, as evidenced by footage of them attending later Talihina weekends, mixing it up with shirtless cousins and sagging uncles, but on the other, they seem driven to distance themselves from their past. Watching footage of the band recording their breakthrough Only By the Night album, you can't help but notice just how hard they're trying to become the hugest rock band on the planet, and in interviews throughout the film, the Kings talk about their past in reverent, yet weary, tones. And yet, they can never escape their history, no matter how hard they try. In a lot of ways, that struggle is what ultimately makes the film so compelling ... and what makes you understand the Kings of Leon just a little bit more. They're down-home boys who are seemingly never home, rock stars whose sentiments have moved millions, despite the fact those sentiments are derived from a place whose population is just 1,200. They have toured the world and lived the life and yet, whether they want to or not, they are eternally drawn back to Talihina. So, really, they're not folk heroes (or, as Caleb jokes, "I'm not Captain America"), they're just small-town kids who inexplicably made it big, boys forced to become men because life conspired to make them so, brothers eternally trying to escape the shadow of their parents. 'Water For Elephants' Cheat Sheet: Everything You Need To Know!

The answer came in January 2010, when news broke that the British actor was eyeing a role in Fox's "Water for Elephants." Ever since, MTV News has been following anything and everything connected to the film, an adaptation of Sara Gruen's best-selling novel. Now the movie is set to hit theaters and we're gathering all our coverage into one place for a "Water for Elephants" cheat sheet. Training When word broke of Pattinson's intention to play a veterinary student named Jacob in "WFE," Oscar winner Reese Witherspoon was already signed on to play Marlena, a beautiful circus performer who's married yet falls in love with Jacob when he joins the troupe. Sean Penn was originally eyeing the role of Marlena's husband, but the part eventually went to another Oscar winner, . With Pattinson's new part came a new haircut: Goodbye, Edward Cullen's messy locks, hello Jacob's cropped do. The first shot of Pattinson in action arrived in June, when a photo of him climbing a train popped up online. More pics followed, including looks at Reese and Rob sharing a smooch. Paparazzi weren't the only ones paying attention to the production. Fans were everywhere, too. "The only thing I can compare it to is when Leo was in 'Titanic,' " Witherspoon told MTV News in December. "It was that kind of fervor about a person. The women lining up outside the set — it was just unbelievable — till 5 o'clock in the morning waiting to just glimpse him." Rehearsal Shortly after our chat with Reese, Fox released the first "Watermfor Elephants" trailer, highlighting the film's story of a circus-centered love triangle between Jacob, Marlena and Marlena's cruel husband, August/. That, and Rob's many smoldering looks. A second trailer debuted in March, showing a darker tone and, perhaps to lighten the mood, Reese and Rob's kiss. As the film's release date neared, MTV News announced a live-stream event with Pattinson. The star debuted a new clip from the film and stuck around for a 30-minute chat, touching on everything from cursing on the set of "Breaking Dawn" to an awkward "WFE" love scene with Reese. "The love scene in this, I was doing it when I had a really bad cold," Pattinson explained. "I'm not generally that awkward doing stuff apart from when I've got my belly coming out. But my nose is running all over the place and it was in one of the additional photography scenes, and Reese had this wig on, and literally, I was wiping my nose on her wig." Performance The live chat wouldn't be our only chance to talk with Rob and the rest of the cast. We met back up with him at a press event a few weeks later. This time around, Pattinson discussed love at first sight (he believes in it) and his preferred circus job (manual labor). "I find it very satisfying. I like stacking boxes and stuff like that," he said. "And also I looked at all the background guys who were putting up a tent as a part of a scene and they were doing this stuff, like in 'Dumbo,' and it looked like something appealing about that, being a part of this team that creates this town in two days, and it's quite cool. And I like the idea of being the absolute everyman as well." And, just in case you didn't get enough of RPattz, MTV News presented a live stream from the "Water for Elephants" red carpet in New York. Turns out, Rob barely made it to the event. "It was a mad rush to get here!" Pattinson said of trying to leave the set of "Breaking Dawn," which wrapped production hours before the premiere. "I was leaving at, like, one o'clock in the morning. They're like, 'C'mon, we need one more shot!' and you've got three people pulling you from either side!" Is Beyonce Prepping Her Next Music Video?
Photos and reports surface of a B video shoot featuring couture fashion and 200 dancers.By Jocelyn Vena Beyonce on the set of her next music video Photo: Robero Cavalli's Twitter Last week a photo appeared on NYMag.com of Beyoncé, dressed in a blue Roberto Cavalli jumpsuit and a funky maroon fur coat, reportedly shooting a video in New Jersey for her forthcoming studio album. A rep for the singer never returned MTV News' request for comment and now, nearly two weeks later, details about the video shoot are being revealed. According to Ace Showbiz, the video will be directed by music video auteur Francis Lawrence, who has gone behind the lens for Lady Gaga, Britney Spears, Pink and Bey's former girl group, Destiny's Child. Rumor has it that 200 African dancers and eight choreographers were hired for the clip. According to several online message boards, auditions for dancers were held in Los Angeles. Fan sites such as BeyonceDaily.com have posted blurry pictures that appear to show the singer on the set of the video, which is reportedly for the song called "Girl." In the snapshots, Beyoncé's hair is done up in a faux-hawk, and she's wearing a white jumpsuit and sunglasses. The outfit is reportedly Givenchy couture. The song is a "female empowerment/girl power type of song that is a definite club banger with Top 40/Worldly appeal," according to one commenter who talked about the open call after his friend attended. "The beat is driven by a sample of a popular club song that a lot of you will probably recognize. There's a breakdown in the song that is described as absolutely disgustingly sick! Definitely an anthem in the style of her singing." The post also backs up the claim that there will be upwards of 200 dancers in the video. Rumors are floating around that Beyoncé's new album may drop this June. Sony Music Australia boss Denis Handlin told The Telegraph in Australia that "it was just amazing." He added that while he was in New York, the star herself was on hand to play some of the new music. "She came in and played us six tracks from the album. She wants to do a big tour off the back of this record, which will include Australia," he explained. "These songs, the best description I can give is groundbreaking; she's gone to another level." Over the course of recording the new album, Beyoncé has been rumored to hit the studio with a number of big industry names like Diplo, Sleigh Bells and Kanye West's producer S1. When she spoke to MTV News last November, she made it clear that sonically she was thinking outside the box. "Well, I wouldn't say I'm inventing a new genre," Beyoncé explained. Snooki Shows Off Her Weight Loss on Facebook
Look out -- it's the incredible shrinking Snooki! Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi has always been petite, and now the 4-foot-9-inch Jersey Shore star is looking dramatically slimmer. What's behind the Guidette's impressive weight loss? A renewed commitment to diet and exercise that began on New Year's Day. "I got a trainer and I've been training with him for about a month now," Polizzi said in January. "I think my New Year's resolution is definitely to keep up with the training." Snooki's new passion for the gym has made its way onto her Twitter account, where she documents her "successful GTL days" (that's 'gym, tan, laundry' for the folks at home), new diet habits ("Water is my new best friend," she tweeted last week), and late nights on the treadmill ("As everyones planning their night at the club, I'm wondering when Golds closes lol," she writes. "Motivated.") On Wednesday, Polizzi posted the results on her Facebook page. In a new photo shoot, "Snickers" looks long-legged, lean and fierce -- and best of all, she hasn't lost those famous curves. Polizzi, 23, has always been candid about her struggles with her weight. As a high school cheerleader, she developed anorexia, sometimes eating only a cracker a day; her parents intervened when her weight dropped to 80 pounds. When Polizzi gained some weight during season 2 of the show, she went on a diet, but didn't shy away from the camera. "I'm just a normal person, not a model," she told the media. "We all have our flaws. We work within them to look our best." She frequently jokes about being a "meatball," but it never stops her from wearing a miniskirt. We've always loved how Snooki is so unafraid to be herself. No matter what her weight, we're sure she's still the biggest personality in the room. Ke$ha Will Guest-Star On Nick's 'Victorious'

And while the role won't have the pop singer stretching her acting muscle too much — she'll be playing herself — someone else in the Sebert (that's her real last name) clan also is getting in on the action. Ke$ha will be joined on the episode of the sitcom by her little brother, Louie. The plot will revolve around Tori (Victoria Justice) and her pals trying to win a contest to go to a Ke$ha concert. The gang must piece together golden tickets in order to win their chance to see the "Blow" singer in a private gig. It seems that 11-year-old Louie provides the winning piece so that they can watch the glittered one perform the aforementioned track. "It's a private concert, and yeah, I will say that the costumes are awesome and there's definitely lots of glitter," Justice told EW.com, which first reported on the episode. "It was really fun to film. It's the first time on my show that we've had a successful radio artist perform on the show. Ke$ha's kind of edgier, and I think that it's cool to bring that element to the show." "Victorious" made its big debut last spring. When MTV News caught up with Justice at that time,the teen actress was excited about the interesting plot possibilities the show's premise provides. "I play a girl named Tori Vega and she's kind of suddenly accepted to this performance arts high school, and from there it's her dealing with all these crazy characters that go there and normal teen problems, like trying to fit in and cute boys," Justice explained. Can you imagine having Elton John as your father and Lady Gaga as your godmother? Yeah me neither but Elton?s baby boy will grow up with that reality. David Furnish and Elton John have officially announced that Lady Gaga is the godmother of their son Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John. Rumors have been circulating on this topic since earlier this year but now it has been confirmed, Gaga is a mama, well sort of. I know she is quite the interesting choice but Elton has a very good reason as to why they chose the outrageous singer. Audrina Patridge Teases A 'Surprise' In Sunday's Episode

And if you thought her family dynamic was surprising, then you'll have to see what she has in store this week. "Yes, the second episode! And mind you, every episode is so exciting there's never a dull moment," she teased to MTV News. "That's what's so amazing. But the second episode ... my parents' 26th wedding anniversary was coming up, so it's gonna be about that and us coming together to throw them a party. And there's a surprise at the end of the episode." What kind of a surprise? "It's a person surprise, so somebody surprises me," she added. "At the end of the second episode, there is a surprise; somebody shows up randomly." The episode will be surprising to fans who think they really know the star. You see there's more to Audrina than "The Hills" could have ever showed. "I really think on 'The Hills,' it was more about the friends, my Hollywood friends," she said. "It was about a group of people who were living in Hollywood and ran in the same crowd and we were all dating each other and fighting just going back and forth. "And now it's more about everything that people didn't get to see," she continued. "I'm really letting them see, especially my life and my point of view and my family and the career side of it." Was it a joke? Was it for real? Well, it was for real, and even days later, everyone's still talking. "They were definitely divisive and it was a polarizing image," Gaga's pal Perez Hilton told MTV News. "I knew it would really get a reaction out of people, and that was her intent. She could have easily gone for something expected, but that's the beautiful thing about Gaga." The gossip blogger said the Nick Knight image's intention was to get people buzzing, whether or not that buzz ended up in the Mother Monster's favor. He even offered some insight into the photo's message, which has been lost on some of Gaga's Little Monsters. "She always wants to keep people guessing, and I think the cover works on many different levels," he explained. "Literally, she was born that way, some kind of mutant freak. There's a lot of energy in that picture." He adds that the vibe captured in the image will also find its way into the music on the May 23 album release. "There's something very metal 'Judas' gives a taste of that dance/metal feeling," he said. "Once the album comes out and they listen to the music, the artwork will make more sense. Ke$h is adding more than 30 North American dates to the $leazy trek — beginning on July 26 in Harrington, Delaware, and wrapping on September 20 in Phoenix — giving fans even more opportunities to watch her guzzle blood from a human heart! Party-meisters LMFAO and prodigiously filthy rapper Spank Rock will join her on most dates. "My spring tour sold out so fast, which is amazing, but I want to get to party with errryone.
