Natalie Portman, Mila Kunis Support Co-Star James Franco As Oscar Host

That evening, at the red-carpet premiere for "Black Swan" in New York, MTV News asked Natalie Portman, who stars alongside Franco in the upcoming comedy "Your Highness," what she thought of the hosting news. "I didn't hear about that!" she told us. "That's awesome. That's really cool." Earlier in the day, Franco's "Date Night" co-star Mila Kunis (who also happens to star with Portman in "Black Swan") stopped by the MTV Newsroom, and when we asked for her thoughts on the Oscar development, she too confessed she hadn't heard. "What? That's awesome," she said. "I think they're going to do a great job." Both women will likely be on hand for the festivities, as "Black Swan" is a front-runner to nab nominations in a slew of categories, from Best Picture to Best Actress for Portman. There's even an outside chance Kunis could reel in a Best Supporting Actress nomination. Franco, meanwhile, has been a leading contender for an acting nod based on his turn as a trapped hiker in "127 Hours." How his hosting duties will affect his chance of receiving a nomination and then winning the award is anyone's guess. All Portman knows is that with Franco and Hathaway emceeing the ceremony, the 83rd Oscars should be a whole lot more entertaining than past versions of the show. Ke$ha's Cannibal Hits The Web

'Listen to it,' singer insists in a post on her website.By James Montgomery Ke$ha Photo: Venturelli/ Getty Images Ke$ha's don't-call-it-an-EP, do-call-it-a-companion-piece Cannibal doesn't hit stores until Tuesday, but since roughly three-quarters of the songs are online already, she's decided to just post the whole thing right now. Yes, fans can now hear all of Cannibal right now on Ke$ha's website, and all they have to do is enter their Twitter handle, Facebook account or MySpace ID to do so. "This is my album premiere, and it's top secret, and it's really fun and it's wild," Ke$ha said in a message posted on her site (in which she is rather inexplicably dressed like Maverick from "Top Gun"). "Things are going to get crazy and a little awkward, it'll be okay. Listen to it." Yeah, seriously, listen to it. Because while most of Cannibal has already leaked — including, of course, first single "We R Who We R," the banging, clanging "Sleazy," the title track and the bumping club track "Blow" — there are still plenty of moments to discover. Look for "The Harold Song," which sees Ke$ha ditch her snarling shtick to lament over a lost love; "Crazy Beautiful Life," where she looks back on how far she's come — from her days as a "sh--ty waitress" to an internationally famous pop star — over a beat lifted from an old NES; "Grow A Pear," a kiss-off to "a dude with a vag"; and "C U Next Tuesday," an angry swipe at a scumbag guy who won't ditch his ex. Loaded with glitchy beats and coated in a slick lacquer of Auto-Tune, Cannibal follows in the footsteps of Ke$ha's breakthrough Animal but also finds her stretching her legs, both as a songwriter and a singer. It's a companion piece to that album and a capper on the past (very hectic) year of her life. Yellowcard Return With 'Awesome' New Album

When You're Through Thinking, Say Yes marks band's return since dissolving in 2008.By James Montgomery Yellowcard's Ryan Key Photo: MTV News Back in 2006, things were starting to go bad for Yellowcard. They had parted ways with longtime guitarist Ben Harper, under less than amicable terms. They were forced to scrap a run of shows when frontman Ryan Key underwent vocal surgery. Lights and Sounds, the ambitious follow-up to their breakout Ocean Avenue album, had tanked, and the band began taking swipes at one another in the press as a result. Things only get worse from there. Their next album — 2007's Paper Walls stiffed to such a degree that their label, Capitol, refused to continue promoting it — and by the end of 2008, Yellowcard were left without a label and decided to call it quits. So, it may have come as a surprise to their die-hard fans when YC announced that they were re-forming in August, with plans to record a brand-new album, to be released on a brand-new label (Hopeless Records) in March. Though, according to Key, the news really shouldn't have shocked anybody. After all, despite what you may have thought, Yellowcard never really went away in the first place. "We took a break in '08, and it just felt like it was time to step back a little bit, and everybody went off and did their thing," Key told MTV News. "And earlier this year, our drummer, Longineu , was the one that kinda started making phone calls, just saying, 'What do you guys think about maybe getting back together?' And then all the rest of us started talking and, uh, it just seemed like the right thing to do." Of course, given their rather rocky history — not just Harper's departure, but the constantly changing status of long-time (and now former) bassist Pete Mosely — getting the band back together wasn't as easy as a few phone calls. There were things that needed to be said (and unsaid), and they needed to be done face-to-face. "We definitely sat down with each other and talked about all the things in Yellowcard that had worked and not worked, and what we would need it to be this time around to make it work, and everybody really seemed to be on the same page," Key explained. "The record is just awesome. ... We're so excited about it, and it was because, I think, we did get some of that stuff worked out and talked about and, you know, you're friends for 15 years ... so there's stuff that you gotta work out with each other to be able to keep working together." And though neither Harper nor Mosely are taking part in the 2010 version of Yellowcard, Key is determined to press on with the core of the band — himself, Parsons and violinist Sean Mackin — intact. And as proof, he offers up the title of YC's new album: When You're Through Thinking, Say Yes a handle he probably couldn't have thought up back in 2006. "It actually came from a young lady I was trying to, uh, take out for an evening, and she had mentioned that she was kind of seeing someone else, and had to think about it," he laughed. "I wrote her a text message back that said, 'When you're through thinking, say "yes," ' and it just kind of resonated, I guess. As lame as it may be, it's from a text message." And when MTV News caught up with some of the night's winners, nominees and attendees they all admitted that Bieber is the hottest guy in the game right now. "I just think it's just insane kids are just Justin Bieber in-fevered," Taio Cruz joked to MTV News on the AMA red carpet. "And they love him, but they love us all, though." Producer and songwriter Sean Garrett said Bieber is winning the guys over because he's won so many of the ladies over. "He just kind of came out of nowhere," Garrett said of Bieber. "He's excited. He's the youngest in charge, and he's definitely got the ladies." Muse drummer Dom Howard confessed that, while Bieber is not a boy, not yet a man, he's still got that something. "Tonight he's won all the awards even though he's not quite a man yet," Howard said. "Boy of the year!" Similarly, "Jersey Shore" star Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino said Bieber was the highlight of the show, thanks to his performance of "Pray." "You know what? Bieber's doing his thing," Sitch said. For crooner Michael Bublé, it was about who was selling more — which he says is probably the both of them. "I'm better than everyone else, and also I'm humble and good-looking and smart and rich and humble, but really humble," he joked. "I don't know . I think it's probably pretty close." Britney Spears Tweets About 'Glee' Tribute Episode

Earlier this year, they campaigned for an episode of "Glee" to be dedicated solely to their favorite pop princess. And after much anticipation, on Tuesday night the students of McKinley High shimmied, crooned and danced their way in tribute to the entertainer. The singer took to Twitter to thank her fans for their efforts and shared her thoughts on the program, titled "Britney/Brittany," and its covers of her songs. "I loved it! Thank you guys SO much for making this happen!" Britney tweeted. In particular, the star seemed to enjoy the renditions of her classic tunes, saying, "I love this version of Stronger. Artie did a great job," and "The GLEE version of Toxic is amazing!" While some of the McKinley High students — including Cheerio cheerleader Brittany S. Pearce (played by Heather Morris) — went into anesthesia--induced dream sequences to channel their inner Britney, Spears herself emerged throughout the episode's hallucinogenic fantasies. Appearing as Madonna's character at the end of "Me Against the Music," a high-school teacher in "... Baby One More Time" and a fellow cheerleader, the singer remained a source of inspiration for the Gleekers. Spears gave kudos to co-star Morris, saying, "Awww Heather Morris is sooo cute! Brittany S Pearce. Ha! She was so fun to work with and was really sweet in person." The singer not only applauded Morris' friendliness, but also her rendition of "I'm a Slave 4 U." She wrote of the sultry production, "Slave: Oh ... My ... God ...! Those little boys are SO cute! I know how hard it is to dance with that snake! Nice job." The pop star also was surprised at how well the show re-created the music video set of her 2003 Madonna duet, "Me Against the Music," pointing out that it "looks just like the original," and adding, "Santana does a great Madonna impression." As the students walked Spears through memory lane, Lea Michele's cover of "... Baby One More Time" also had the singer reminiscing. "Watching Baby brings back so many memories! Feels like yesterday," she explained. John Stamos also made a guest appearance in the episode, as the dentist who sends the Gleeks into Britney world. Spears made it clear that the 47-year-old actor looks as good as he did during his heyday. "John Stamos is still hot! He looks the same as he did on Full House," she tweeted. As with many "Glee" fans, Britney found a pleasantly odd interest in Jane Lynch, who plays the aggressive cheerleading coach Sue Sylvester, describing the actress as "hilarious and scary all rolled into one." Spears wasn't the only one who enjoyed filming the tribute episode — the "Glee" castmembers recently dished on working with the star. Morris told Australian magazine TV Week that the singer was her childhood inspiration. "She was my idol from, like, age 12 to 16," she said. "I sang to her in my living room and danced to her — I learned all her moves. And I had my talent shows and I lip-synched to her. I just kept flashing back to growing up and being obsessed with her." Naya Rivera, who plays Santana, also spoke highly of the pop icon. "I love Britney Spears. I mean, who doesn't? We all grew up with her," she proclaimed in a promo video for the show. "The first music purchase I ever made was '... Baby One More Time' on cassette. , 'Britney Spears is going to be in my mitts, what do I do?' , 'Hi Britney!' And then she was like, 'Hey!' Irvin Kershner, Director Of 'The Empire Strikes Back,' Dies At 87

The filmmaker, who also helmed the Bond flick 'Never Say Never Again' and 'Robocop 2,' passed away in Los Angeles.By Tom DiChiara Irvin Kershner Photo: Jean-Christophe Verhaegen/ AFP/ Getty Images Irvin Kershner, best known for directing the "Star Wars" sequel "The Empire Strikes Back," has died at the age of 87. The filmmaker passed away at his Los Angeles home after a long bout with an unspecified illness, his goddaughter Adriana Santini told French news service AFP on Monday. Born in 1923 in Philadelphia, Kershner studied music, painting and photography before turning his focus to filmmaking in the early 1950s. He got his start directing documentaries in Iran, Greece and Turkey for the United States Information Service, then returned to the States to develop the TV series "Confidential File" and "The Rebel." Kershner made his feature directorial debut with "Stakeout on Dope Street" in 1958 and went on to direct a number of well-known films, including 1960's "Hoodlum Priest" and 1966's "A Fine Madness," starring Sean Connery and Joanne Woodward. In 1980, Kershner directed "Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back," the sequel to George Lucas's 1977 space-opera hit, arguably the series' best-loved and most critically acclaimed installment. While "Empire Strikes Back" is certainly the film for which Kershner is most fondly remembered, he's also known for helming 1983's unauthorized James Bond film "Never Say Never Again" — which saw Sean Connery return to the role of 007 — and 1990's "Robocop II." Kershner did a bit of acting in his day as well. He made his big-screen debut in Martin Scorsese's "The Last Temptation of Christ" in 1988, and also appeared as a filmmaker in the 1994 Steven Seagal vehicle "On Deadly Ground." Judge Denies Bail for Bruce Beresford-Redman

Bruce Beresford-Redman may never be a free man again. The former TV producer and suspected murderer has been denied bail by Los Angeles District Court Judge Susan Segal, who said in court today "I do not believe he can be awarded with bail for the allegations which he has been alleged... Mr. Redman presents a risk of flight.” Beresford-Redman was taken into custody on November 16 and charged with the brutal killing of wife Monica Beresford-Redman. Her body was found in a Cancun sewer on April 8. 'King's Speech' Star Colin Firth Talks Awards-Season Love And 'Dumb Luck'

And after losing out on a best actor Oscar for "A Single Man," the 50-year-old actor has again established himself as one of the frontrunners in that category, thanks to his turn as the stammer-afflicted King George VI on the verge of Britain's entry into World War II in "The King's Speech." It seems Firth is an actor at the top of his game, but to hear him tell it, it's as much a matter of good fortune as it is great talent. "It's just dumb luck," he told MTV News at the Toronto film festival in September. "That's all: Just getting a crack at it. Sometimes you just take roles to stay in the game or pay bills and hope the good ones are going to come along. "I was never in a world of perfect choice, and now I feel like I've had a couple of real plums landing in my hand," he added. It was at fall film festivals in Toronto and Telluride, Colorado, as critics first began to catch screenings of "King's Speech," that it became clear we'd still be talking about Firth's performance come awards season. He's been faithfully making the publicity rounds ever since, and as he told us when we chatted earlier this month in New York, he's not bored with the experience. "Funnily enough, I find it easier than many things," he said. "There are so many angles you can approach it from, to do with the way people are reacting to it to the surprises we've had along the way to nuances about the actual history itself. I think this has a lot of mileage in it. "It's been very gratifying for audiences to have howls of laughter and be open to crying," he continued. "To see that happening in the same film is a triumphant feeling. When you're in Telluride, you can put it down to altitude — one glass of wine amounts to 10. 30 Seconds To Mars Unveil Epic 'Hurricane' Video

Clip mixes fetish looks with cinema-worthy stunts, but no Kanye West cameo.By Gil Kaufman 30 Seconds to Mars' Jared Leto in "Hurricane" Photo: EMI Jared Leto never goes halfway. That's why the epic video for 30 Seconds to Mars' new single "Hurricane" sometimes feels like a summer blockbuster squished down into a 13-minute box. Part "Eyes Wide Shut" fetish flick, part action movie and all a bit confusing, the video that director Bartholomew Cubbins (a.k.a. Leto) has been promising will be "very sexual," violent and a "surrealistic nightmare dream-fantasy" is all those things and more. Plus a lot of things we can't even really get into here. Premiering on MTV.com on Monday (November 29), the mini-movie is broken into chapters, beginning with movie-style titles announcing "Hurricane," then the subtitles "this is not reality" and "this is a dream." As Chapter 1, "Birth," unfolds, ominous lighting flashes over New York City at night as drummer Shannon Leto speeds through its streets on a motorcycle. A shirtless Jared Leto is awakened in his apartment by a knock on the door only to find nobody there and a stack of Polaroid surveillance photos of him lying in bed (shirtless, of course). A creepy gimp wearing a black suit and leather mask and toting a sledgehammer bursts into the room, sending Leto flying out of a 40-story window to the street below. The gimp is right behind him and danger lurks all around as guitarist Tomo Milicevic encounters a woman in black leather bunny fetish gear being led around a subway station by another leather-masked baddie. Milicevic dispatches the dude with a gut punch and makes out with the fetish queen, yanking a key on a red rope out of his mouth after their hookup. Chapter 2, "Life," begins with Shannon crashing his bike to avoid running over a woman lying prone in the street, even as his brother dresses up a lingerie-wearing beauty in a leather eye-mask and horse's bit. The beautiful stranger stabs Shannon in the gut unexpectedly, yet he's fine enough to toss the key in slow motion into the street. And then, believe it or not, that's when things get really weird. A rabbi, a priest and an imam show up and toss their respective holy books into a bonfire in an alley (also in slow motion, natch), and Leto jogs by a building where he finds the key hanging out of a door. Cue quick-cut scenes of a silver knife, a cockroach, a woman spitting into another woman's mouth, a buxom beauty in a steampunk gas mask, some back licking, booty smacking and handcuff play, not to mention yet another black-barred image with the words "Censored Sisyphus Corporation" over them, and you have the perfect setup for Leto walking through rows of caskets draped in the American flag as the sledgehammer dude clocks him in the face. Leto falls into his own coffin and is nailed in it before the camera cuts to a pair of topless women in fishnet stockings guarding a door and striking provocative poses as an unseen hand takes the lid off a plate containing, yes, a silver vibrator. Ominous music begins to play while a procession of death-mask-wearing marchers bearing torches make their way through Central Park, where Shannon meets up with his assailant, kisses her and is promptly shackled to a park bench. Dude, how could you fall for that again? Surrounded by guys in creepy bunny and bird masks, he uses the key to unshackle himself and beat them up, while brother Jared is freaking out inside the casket and uses his red key to set himself free. He drops down into the street amid a stream of other unmentionable fetish clips while Tomo uses his red key to unlock a book with a secret message in it that we never get to see. Which brings us to Chapter 3, "Death," opening with children scrawling in an alley with sidewalk chalk and Jared realizing his torso is covered with cryptic tattoos. He doesn't seem to mind, as he's busy hooking up with a beauty in lingerie. Censored scene, more fetish play, Shannon making out with his girl again, Jared taking the masked gimp to the cleaners in a slo-mo fistfight, a strobe-light recap of the whole thing, and somehow 13 minutes have passed by in a daze. When he teased the clip at the MTV Europe Music Awards in Madrid earlier this month, Leto said the point was to weave three separate narratives together -- the members of 30STM each battling their personal demons and unlocking secret fantasies -- in between all that sex and blood and book-burning. But, alas, given how busy 30STM and Kanye West both are at the moment, the Yeezy cameo didn't come together for this cut of the film. Maybe next time. What do you think of the "Hurricane" video? With his fleet footwork, Usher teamed up with dance-world superstars Swedish House Mafia to ignite the stage with a mash-up of his "DJ Got Us Fallin' in Love" and their "Miami 2 Ibiza" and "One" that certainly qualified as one of the evening's high points. Decked out in black military garb and sporting a starter mohawk, Usher partied and pranced around onstage to his club-happy single. "I feel like a zombie gone back to life," Usher sang. "Hands up, and suddenly we all got our hands up/ No control of my body/ Ain't I seen you before?/ I think I remember those eyes, eyes, eyes, eyes." Usher and his gang of dancers showed off moves that would have tripped up teen stars. At one point, his backup dancers launched him into the air and Usher landed and jumped right into his next step. A full explosion followed behind him and he carried the energy into the hook. " 'Cause baby tonight, the DJ got us falling in love again," he crooned. "Yeah, baby tonight/ The DJ got us falling in love again/ So dance, dance, like it's the last, last night of your life, life." After picking up an award earlier in the evening, Usher acknowledged his veteran status. The 32-year-old thanked his supporters, plugged his OMG Tour with Trey Songz and shouted out longtime fans. Justin Bieber's New 'Never Say Never' Trailer Plays Up 3-D

And on Monday (November 22), just one day after his big night at the AMAs, a new trailer for the flick hit the Internet. The sneak peek opens with classical music playing as the screen reads, "This Valentine's Day," over an image of Bieber. Soon, the singer is spraying silly string as the screen reads, "See Bieber like never before." Then, Bieber throws popcorn at the camera — all tricks to play up the film being in 3-D. Soon, a montage of Bieber as a kid flashes across the screen along with concert video and behind-the-scenes footage of the singer with various people in Bieber's camp sharing tidbits about the singer, including "He could really be huge, if he wanted" and "He's 16, and he's doing it all on his own." At the end of the trailer, Bieber is seen learning about the cameras used to shoot his 3-D flick as he sticks out 3-D glasses and looks into a screen seeing what the 3-D will look like. "That's sick, right?" he says. "It looks like it's about to hit that guy in the head." It was just announced that fans can catch a sneak-peek screening of the film February 9, two days before it officially hits theaters. They'll be surprised just to see I'm a regular person," he said. "I'm a regular teenage boy. I like girls, and I like to hang out with my friends. It's gonna be taking them into my world, but also like it's their world, 'cause it's just normal." Chris Cornell Filling In For Robert Plant On Led Zeppelin Tour? That's News To Him

'I have not been approached to fill in for Robert Plant on the Zeppelin tour, but that isn't to say I won't be,' singer says.By Chris Harris Chris Cornell Photo: MTV News Former Soundgarden and Audioslave frontman Chris Cornell has spoken out for the first time about rumors that he's been asked to fill in for Robert Plant on a proposed Led Zeppelin reunion tour. The trek would feature original guitarist Jimmy Page, original bassist John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham taking over on drums for his late father, John Bonham. Cornell has been mentioned — along with Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl, former Van Halen frontman Sammy Hagar, White Stripes mastermind Jack White and Alter Bridge's Myles Kennedy — as a potential Plant fill-in. Plant has already said that he wouldn't take part in the tour. "I have not been approached so far to fill in for Robert Plant on the upcoming Zeppelin tour, but that isn't to say I won't be," Cornell told MTV News. "I've heard that from about 200 people now, and it might be one of those situations where it's just an online rumor or it might be true. But if you see anyone from Led Zeppelin around, let me know. I think I should actually fill in for Jimmy Page on the Robert Plant/ Alison Krauss tour." Cornell's denial comes just a day after Aerosmith guitarist Brad Whitford confirmed reports that frontman Steven Tyler recently met with Zeppelin for an impromptu jam session. "They did it for fun," Whitford said during an appearance on the syndicated show "Todd N Tyler Radio Empire." "I actually think Jimmy wanted Steven to come over and play a little bit because I think he was trying to light a fire under Robert." Rumors of a Zeppelin reunion tour have abounded since the iconic band played a single reunion set last year at London's O2 Arena. Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider added fuel to the fire last month when he revealed that the group was thinking of touring, with or without Plant. According to Snider, the rest of the band told Plant, " 'We're all rehearsed, we're ready to go. Here's a gazillion dollars on the table. If you don't do it, we're going out with this kid .' " "And he can sing the sh-- out of Zeppelin," Snider added. "They're going to hope that Robert, at the last minute, will go, 'OK,' and step in." In a recent interview, Jones told BBC Radio Devon that a new singer was being sought to take over for Plant. "We are trying out a couple of singers," he said. "We want to do it. It's sounding great, and we want to get on and get out there." But Jones insists that he, Page and Bonham aren't interested in finding a Plant clone. "It's got to be right," he said. "There's no point in just finding another Robert. You could get that out of a tribute band, but we don't want to be our own tribute band. There would be a record and a tour, but everyone has to be onboard." Of course, even if Zeppelin were to approach him, Cornell might be too busy to take over vocals for the band. His upcoming Timbaland-produced solo LP, Scream, will be released within the next few months. Cornell told MTV News last month that some of his fans might consider Scream something of a departure, but he doesn't see it that way. "It makes me happy that there's this perception that I have a group of fans that I'm now sort of throwing a curve at and what their reaction will be," he said. "But I've been in this situation so many times already. When I put out Euphoria Morning, my main goal was to create an album that sounded like nothing I'd done in Soundgarden, and I did that. I also had that with Temple of the Dog, where I showed up with songs that weren't necessarily riff-based. And then, of course, the pairing of me and members of Rage Against the Machine had everyone sort of speculating about what that would sound like. "It feels like I've done this so many times that when it's presented to me as being a departure, I feel that's a misconception," he added. "I feel like that's my theme at this point." Christian Bale Excited To Star With Tom Hardy In 'Dark Knight Rises'

Rumor has it the "Inception" actor is set to become a villain, though director Christopher Nolan has gone on record as saying the Riddler won't factor into his upcoming third installment of the "Batman" reboot. There's talk that Hardy would do well in the role of troubled psychologist Hugo Strange, crime lord Black Mask or gun-toting hit man Deadshot. Whoever Hardy ends up portraying, the man he'll likely do battle against is excited for the opportunity to act with him. "I liked him in 'Inception' and I did see 'Bronson' as well," said Christian Bale — Bruce Wayne/Batman himself — in a recent interview with MTV News. "He seems like he's a balls-out actor." When we asked Bale if he was looking forward to Hardy as an opponent, he answered, "Yeah, sounds good." Did Bale confirm that Hardy will in fact be a villain in "The Dark Knight Rises"? Did the "opponent" part of our question breeze right by Bale? Watch the video interview and judge for yourself. While Bale left the door slightly open to returning for a fourth "Batman" flick, he seemed fairly convinced that "The Dark Knight Rises" will be his and Nolan's final installment in the DC Comics franchise. But in my mind, I'm expecting this will be it." Produced by much of the same team behind Minaj's Young Money labelmate Drake's June documentary, "Better Than Good Enough," the film follows the bewigged mic-ripper as she crafts her hotly anticipated album, which dropped on Monday. The curtains are pulled back on the "Right Thru Me" lyricist's hectic lifestyle as she closes in on the November 22 drop date, giving fans a rare glimpse of the Trinidadian-born, Queens MC born Onika Miraj as she grapples with her past and faces her promising future. Journalists from magazines such as Spin and Rolling Stone comment on the perfect storm of hype that has accompanied the Young Money femcee's debut — Team Minaj's major presence on and off the Web, the impressive list of high-profile features — maintaining that the Queens spitter needs to churn out a pretty much flop-proof album, a task that Minaj readily rises to. With her favorite dried cranberries and almonds on standby — Minaj insists on snacking on the trail-mix ingredients while recording — viewers got an intimate look at the wordsmith in the studio as she crafted Pink Friday. Fueling the Minaj mania are her turns on the awards-show stage, including her notable appearances at the 2010 BET Awards, which sparked debate over whether the Young Money diva was lip-synching. The chatter frustrates Minaj but ultimately the drama motivates her to really turn it out at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards pre-show, where she helmed her first solo televised performance alongside will.i.am. The "Check It Out" spitter also sounds off about the business behind the music. In one scene, Minaj rattles off a powerful invective about what she sees as unfair double standards for women in entertainment. "When I am assertive, I'm a bitch. When a man is assertive, he's a boss. He bossed up. No negative connotation behind bossed up. But lots of negative connotation behind being a bitch," Minaj remarks, while going off about sub-par photo shoot amenities and getting visibly frustrated about an unnamed person who refuses to return a favor to Minaj. " The assertive, no-nonsense Nicki is a side of the hip-hop star fans who've been following her since her "Come Up" DVD and Beam Me Up Scotty mixtape days are familiar with. But in "My Time Now," the Barbie army gets to check out the lyricist's more vulnerable side as she journeys to Trinidad for the first time in seven years for a concert. Minaj greets family members she hasn't seen in years without all of the fussy trappings of a global celebrity, sporting dark, straight locks and a T-shirt. Minaj squeals, enveloping excited relatives in warm embraces and catches up with her kin as they all pile up onto a couch in a swanky hotel. Later, she picks up the tab for a family shopping spree as rabid fans descend upon the mall for a shot of the hip-hop Barbie. Raised by her grandmother while her parents laid the groundwork for a better life in the U.S., Minaj gets emotional in one scene as she remembers her late elder, who died before the young Nicki scored success. She faintly nods and struggles to hold back tears as she concedes her grandmother would be proud of her achievements, before quickly picking up a mirror to salvage her makeup. "A lot of times, when you're from the islands, your parents leave and then send for you because it's easier when they have established themselves; when they have a place to stay, when they have a job. I thought it was gonna be for a few days, it turned into two years without my mother," she says of staying behind with relatives on the island nation. She also speaks about her father's debilitating drug addiction, which rocked the youngster's Queens household. "When you're on crack, you can't keep a job. And when you can't keep a job, you don't have money. And when you don't have money, you steal. And you steal from your family," she says. Ultimately, Minaj's story ends on a note of triumph, as she cruises through a Long Island neighborhood in a chauffeured Maybach and tours the home she just purchased for her mother and younger brother, who she playfully ribs as they discuss paint colors, just like any other big sister. "I am amazed at what I've seen in this film," Minaj said in a statement. She continued, "This film is my heart & soul. The visual component to Pink Friday. My fans are the most incredible humans on this planet. Words could never translate my gratitude. Thank you for standing by me. It's our time now." Michael Jackson's 'Hold My Hand' Debuts Online

Song featuring Akon is first single off posthumous album Michael.By Gil Kaufman Michael Jackson and Akon Photo: Getty Images "Hold My Hand," the official first single from the upcoming posthumous album from Michael Jackson album, was released on MJ's official website over the weekend. The lead track from Michael, due on December 14, is a universal plea for peace on which Akon and MJ weave their voices together over a wash of dramatic strings and a subdued beat. Akon, who recently went back into the studio to put finishing touches on the song, spoke to MTV News back in 2007 about working with the King of Pop, who reportedly wrote a hand-written note in which he expressed a desire to have "Hold My Hand" released as a single. "Just to be in the same room , I felt like everything I wanted to achieve in life had already been achieved," Akon said. "That's how incredible that aura ." Unlike "Breaking News," the beat-heavy anti-media screed that was streamed on the MJ site last week, the uplifting "Hold My Hand" is one of Jackson's classic love ballads, a heart-stirring call to unity with a touch of a Caribbean lilt. "This life don't last forever," Jackson sings in the opening lines in his signature quavering falsetto. "So tell me what we're waiting for/ We're better off being together/ Than being miserable alone." Then together, the men sing, " 'Cause I been there before and you've bee there before/ But together we can be all right/ 'Cause when it gets dark and when it gets cold we hold each other till we see the sunlight." As the three-and-a-half-minute single comes to a close, the strings swell and a gospel choir comes in, clapping hands and giving the tune a majestic feel. The 10-track album will also feature cameos from 50 Cent ("Monster") and Lenny Kravitz ("(I Can't Make It) Another Day". Even though he worked with Jackson on tracks late in the singer's career on what was slated to be MJ's comeback album, one person who is not excited about the new MJ disc is the Black Eyed Peas' will.i.am. "Whoever put it out and is profiting off of it, I want to see how cold they are," he told Entertainment Weekly. "To say that what contributed during his life wasn't enough. He just wasn't any ordinary artist. He was a hands-on person. To me it's disrespectful. There's no honoring." Considering how meticulous and particular Jackson was about his music, Will said he thought it was callous of Jackson's label, Sony Music, to release what he suspects are unfinished works. "Michael Jackson songs are finished when Michael says they're finished," said Will, who earlier this year revealed that he worked on the songs "Dreaming" and "Still the King" with Jackson, as well a tribute to James Brown called "I Will Miss You." "Maybe if I never worked with him I wouldn't have this perspective," the producer told "Access Hollywood," noting that those songs will never be released because MJ didn't give his final approval on them. "He was very particular about how he wanted his vocals, the reverb he used. ... He was that hands-on. ... He kept his vocals and I kept the music. We had that understanding." Justin Bieber Schedules Sneak-Peek Screenings Of 3-D Flick

'Love And Other Drugs' Co-Stars Have Chemistry On (And Off) Screen

Actors will typically declare how well the cast and crew got along on set when promoting a movie, whether it's true or not. But in the case of Hathaway and Gyllenhaal, it seemed obvious the two share a genuine mutual affection, as MTV News learned when we caught up with them to discuss their romantic comedy, which opens Wednesday. Since Hathaway and Gyllenhaal have collaborated onscreen before, we asked what it was like to do press together. " annoying," Gyllenhaal joked about having to sit side-by-side for interviews all day. Then, turning serious, he added, "She's so dope at press. Can we talk about this for a second? She's got a rare talent at 'pressing' it." "How dare you set me up at the beginning of an interview like that?" Hathaway interjected in mock protest. "How dare you!" "Your mind is going to be blown by this chick," Gyllenhaal continued. "Wait, he's about to say the smartest thing you've ever heard!" Hathaway countered. With his fleet footwork, Usher teamed up with dance-world superstars Swedish House Mafia to ignite the stage with a mash-up of his "DJ Got Us Fallin' in Love" and their "Miami 2 Ibiza" and "One" that certainly qualified as one of the evening's high points. Decked out in black military garb and sporting a starter mohawk, Usher partied and pranced around onstage to his club-happy single. "I feel like a zombie gone back to life," Usher sang. "Hands up, and suddenly we all got our hands up/ No control of my body/ Ain't I seen you before?/ I think I remember those eyes, eyes, eyes, eyes." Usher and his gang of dancers showed off moves that would have tripped up teen stars. At one point, his backup dancers launched him into the air and Usher landed and jumped right into his next step. A full explosion followed behind him and he carried the energy into the hook. " 'Cause baby tonight, the DJ got us falling in love again," he crooned. "Yeah, baby tonight/ The DJ got us falling in love again/ So dance, dance, like it's the last, last night of your life, life." After picking up an award earlier in the evening, Usher acknowledged his veteran status. The 32-year-old thanked his supporters, plugged his OMG Tour with Trey Songz and shouted out longtime fans. Christian Bale Talks 'Dark Knight Rises': 'We've Got To Up It'

Nolan officially committed to direct in September, "Inception" actor Tom Hardy joined the cast in October, and a few weeks later, the title, "The Dark Knight Rises," was announced. So, yes, we've been learning snippets of info here and there. All along the way, though, Bale himself hasn't learned much more than us. "Chris will let me know what I need to know when I need to know it," Bale told MTV News while promoting "The Fighter." "It's our fourth movie together. I probably know a little bit more than some other people out there, but I think most people would be surprised at how little I do know." One thing Bale does know is that this will bring their "Batman" series to a close. That's what Nolan said back in March, and that's what has Bale looking forward to the "Dark Knight Rises" shoot. "Very excited, because if Chris maintains, this will be the last one," Bale said, adding, "We've got to up it." The production is set to kick off in New Orleans in the spring. That gives the 36-year-old Bale more than enough time to get into the mind-set of Bruce Wayne. Plus, after working together on two "Batman" flicks and 2006's "The Prestige," the pair know what to expect from each other. "It just hasn't been necessary yet," Bale explained about not knowing very much about the upcoming film. "I know he'll give me plenty of time to prepare for whatever I need to, and I'll discover it. Michael Jackson's Michael Track Listing Reveals Akon, 50 Cent Collabos

Akon collaboration, 'Hold My Hand,' will debut Monday.By Jocelyn Vena Michael Jackson's <i>Michael</i> Photo: Epic Records Michael Jackson fans are eagerly awaiting the December 14 arrival of his posthumous release, simply called Michael, and on Friday (November 12), the album's official track listing was unveiled. Michael will feature appearances by 50 Cent and Lenny Kravitz, as well as a collaboration with Akon called "Hold My Hand" that's set to debut on Monday (November 15). "Hold My Hand" will be Michael's lead track. According to an official announcement, Jackson had intended for the song to be the first official release off the album. His label, Sony, and the executors of his estate reportedly have a handwritten note from the singer in which he shares that wish. Another tune, "Breaking News," began streaming on his website this past Monday as a preview for the album. An early take of "Hold My Hand" was leaked in 2008, but Akon says the version that appears on Michael is the definite one. "The world was not ready to hear 'Hold My Hand' when it leaked a couple years ago. We were devastated about it," Akon explained. "But its time has definitely come; now in its final state, it has become an incredible, beautiful, anthemic song. I'm so proud to have had the chance to work with Michael, one of my all time idols." In 2007, Akon spoke to MTV News about working with Jackson on music, including "Hold My Hand." "Just to be in the same room , I felt like everything I wanted to achieve in life had already been achieved," Akon said. "That's how incredible that aura . We about to shake the world up, man ... You know how you be with somebody and you can't even explain ? I used to always sit and wonder, 'How does somebody sell so many records and dominate a whole business genre to a point where nobody can't be a part of that without associating ?' Producer and songwriter Sean Garrett said Bieber is winning the guys over because he's won so many of the ladies over. "He just kind of came out of nowhere," Garrett said of Bieber. "He's excited. He's the youngest in charge, and he's definitely got the ladies." Muse drummer Dom Howard confessed that, while Bieber is not a boy, not yet a man, he's still got that something. "Tonight he's won all the awards even though he's not quite a man yet," Howard said. "Boy of the year!" Similarly, "Jersey Shore" star Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino said Bieber was the highlight of the show, thanks to his performance of "Pray." "You know what? Bieber's doing his thing," Sitch said. For crooner Michael Bublé, it was about who was selling more — which he says is probably the both of them. "I'm better than everyone else, and also I'm humble and good-looking and smart and rich and humble, but really humble," he joked. "I don't know . I think it's probably pretty close." Nicki has found herself in the rap and pop spotlight thanks to her unique style, over-the-top personality and anticipation for her first album, Pink Friday, out Friday. This was an opportunity not only for her to thank fans for their support, but also for them to thank her for giving them a voice. "She speaks for people. She speaks for us. She's our generation," said one fan queued up outside. "Every era has their people. We have Nicki, that's our person. We relate to her. We connect to her." Nicki's Barbies and Ken Barbs — as she's dubbed many of her male fans — were rapping their favorite Nicki verses in unison and chanting the Harajuku Barbie's name as well as the name of her debut album, Pink Friday, all night at the event. "It's her style, it's her flow," said 19-year-old Jean Carlos. "Some people won't get it, but the people out here supporting her, all of these people that have been here since who knows what time, those are people that get her. Those are her real fans and that's why we're here, because we love her." Most fans knew that they would only get three seconds to let Nicki know how much they loved her, but that fact did little to dissuade them. Admirer Anthony Dominguez said that when he got a chance to meet her, he would congratulate her on her success and tell her how much he appreciated her. "I'm going to tell her 'I love you so much, keep up the good work,' and 'I love you Mama Barb.' " Minaj also spent part of Tuesday performing at Kanye West's show at the Bowery Ballroom in downtown New York. Open the floodgates! Christian Bale Talks 'Dark Knight Rises': 'We've Got To Up It'

Nolan officially committed to direct in September, "Inception" actor Tom Hardy joined the cast in October, and a few weeks later, the title, "The Dark Knight Rises," was announced. So, yes, we've been learning snippets of info here and there. All along the way, though, Bale himself hasn't learned much more than us. "Chris will let me know what I need to know when I need to know it," Bale told MTV News while promoting "The Fighter." "It's our fourth movie together. I probably know a little bit more than some other people out there, but I think most people would be surprised at how little I do know." One thing Bale does know is that this will bring their "Batman" series to a close. That's what Nolan said back in March, and that's what has Bale looking forward to the "Dark Knight Rises" shoot. "Very excited, because if Chris maintains, this will be the last one," Bale said, adding, "We've got to up it." The production is set to kick off in New Orleans in the spring. That gives the 36-year-old Bale more than enough time to get into the mind-set of Bruce Wayne. Plus, after working together on two "Batman" flicks and 2006's "The Prestige," the pair know what to expect from each other. "It just hasn't been necessary yet," Bale explained about not knowing very much about the upcoming film. "I know he'll give me plenty of time to prepare for whatever I need to, and I'll discover it. With his fleet footwork, Usher teamed up with dance-world superstars Swedish House Mafia to ignite the stage with a mash-up of his "DJ Got Us Fallin' in Love" and their "Miami 2 Ibiza" and "One" that certainly qualified as one of the evening's high points. Decked out in black military garb and sporting a starter mohawk, Usher partied and pranced around onstage to his club-happy single. "I feel like a zombie gone back to life," Usher sang. "Hands up, and suddenly we all got our hands up/ No control of my body/ Ain't I seen you before?/ I think I remember those eyes, eyes, eyes, eyes." Usher and his gang of dancers showed off moves that would have tripped up teen stars. At one point, his backup dancers launched him into the air and Usher landed and jumped right into his next step. A full explosion followed behind him and he carried the energy into the hook. " 'Cause baby tonight, the DJ got us falling in love again," he crooned. "Yeah, baby tonight/ The DJ got us falling in love again/ So dance, dance, like it's the last, last night of your life, life." After picking up an award earlier in the evening, Usher acknowledged his veteran status. The 32-year-old thanked his supporters, plugged his OMG Tour with Trey Songz and shouted out longtime fans.
