Michael Jackson Doctor Pleads Not Guilty To Involuntary Manslaughter

Conrad Murray's trial slated to start March 28.By Gil Kaufman Dr. Conrad Murray appears in court on Tuesday in Los Angeles, California Photo: Irfan Khan-Pool/ Getty Images Michael Jackson's former personal physician Dr. Conrad Murray entered a plea of not guilty to charges of involuntary manslaughter in the June 2009 death of the pop star at his arraignment on Tuesday morning (January 25). According to the Los Angeles Times, when asked by judge Michael Pastor how he pleaded to the charge, Murray said, "Your honor, I am an innocent man." When Pastor interrupted and asked Murray what his plea was, the cardiologist said, "Therefore, I plead not guilty." The brief hearing in Los Angeles Superior Court ended with Pastor setting a March 28 date for the start of a trial in the case. Murray faces a maximum of four years in prison if convicted, and the Times noted that he surprised the judge by invoking his right to a speedy trial, which meant the case would have to begin by late March. Pastor noted the rarity of a defendant asking to have a speedy trial, then set jury selection for the week of March 28 and said he was inclined to allow television coverage of the trial that the defense expects will last two months. Lawyers for Murray have maintained his innocence all along, saying he did not do anything that "should have" caused the 50-year-old pop icon's death. The Los Angeles County Coroner's office determined that Jackson died of an overdose of the surgical anesthetic propofol mixed with a cocktail of other sedatives. Murray has admitted to administering propofol to Jackson in the hours before the singer's death, but the defense appears to be gearing up to claim that it was Jackson who administered the final, fatal dose of the drug after he woke in a panic from a fitful night of sleep. During a preliminary hearing earlier this month to determine if there was enough evidence to hold Murray over for trial, the physician's attorneys said that there was evidence Jackson injected or drank a fatal amount of the drug when the doctor was not looking. Mark Zuckerberg's Facebook Faceoff with Jesse Eisenberg

Mark Zuckerberg may have been portrayed as a deceptive, socially awkward nerd in The Social Network, but the real-life Facebook founder seems like a pretty decent guy. During this past weekend's Saturday Night Live monologue, Zuckerberg good-naturedly came face to face with SNL host Jesse Eisenberg, the Academy Award-nominated actor who played him in the film... and the resulting encounter -- supposedly the first time they've met -- was a tad awkward, to say the least. Watch for yourself below! The bit kicked off with Andy Samberg confronting the 27-year-old Eisenberg on stage and claiming to be the real-life Zuckerberg. Meanwhile, the real Mark Zuckerberg, 26, was backstage with SNL creator Lorne Michaels, pleading to go on the show and bragging that "I invented poking!" Zuckerberg finally joined Samberg and Eisenberg on stage (that's a lot of "bergs" in one place) at the end of the monologue, causing Samberg to marvel at the pair's "awkward" first encounter. After some strained attempts at banter, Zuck and his big-screen doppelganger laughingly introduced the show together. So was the meeting as uncomfortable as they made it seem on TV? Eisenberg didn't seem to think so when E! caught up with him on the red carpet of Sunday's SAG Awards, where he was nominated for best actor. "No, it was wonderful," Eisenberg told E! interviewer Giuliana Rancic. "I was so happy that agreed to do it. I could imagine this must be a strange experience, to have a movie made about your life." It's a good thing Eisenberg enjoyed the meeting with Zuckerberg and his stint as SNL host... because he and The Social Network didn't fare so well at the SAG Awards. Jesse lost the best actor race to Colin Firth, and Firth's flick, The King's Speech, trumped Network for best ensemble cast. Regardless, Jesse and his costars had a great time mugging for the camera and checking out all the dazzlingly (and sometimes not so dazzlingly) dressed celebs onhand for the show. As for Zuckerberg, he's probably not regretting meeting Eisenberg in the slightest. The SNL cameo was one heck of a PR move for the world's youngest billionaire. His ability to laugh off the unfavorable Hollywood portrayal of himself should help to transform the public perception of him from that of a backstabbing and manipulative geek to a pretty affable good sport. We wonder what the Winklevi think of all this. Does Mark Zuckerberg's SNL cameo change the way you think of him? Jeremy Piven Calls Pittsburgh Quarterback ?Ben Rapist-berger?

Nicki Minaj, Lil Kim Feud Is 'Harmless,' 50 Cent Says

'Kim is the original, I believe, and Nicki is the right now,' G-Unit MC says on Shade 45.By Jayson Rodriguez 50 Cent Photo: Jordan Strauss/ WireImage Lil Kim and Nicki Minaj's war of words has died down considerably in the new year, following months of fiery sniping in interviews and songs. Queen Bee collaborator 50 Cent ("Magic Stick"), not one to shy away from differences with others, downplayed the rift between the feuding female MCs. In an interview on Shade 45's "G-Unit Saturdays," he spoke via phone about the beef with DJ Whoo Kid. "When I look at them actually competing, I don't see anything," 50 said. "I think it's harmless. It adds an interesting story and other interests to them, 'cause Kim is the original, I believe, and Nicki is the right now." When the pugilistic rapper was told his answer was surprisingly neutral — in addition to working with Kim, 50 is from Queens, New York, as is Nicki — he joked he didn't want to get involved in their battle. "How do you get in the middle of a girl fight?" he responded. Since New Year's Eve, when Kim fired the last salvo at Nicki during a performance, the two Big Apple rappers have remained quiet regarding one another. Veteran MC Rah Digga recently headlined an all-lady lyricist concert in Los Angeles, and the former Flipmode Squad member said the feuding isn't necessary. "To be honest, if you're an artist and you're just into the music, all that stuff is irrelevant," Digga told Mixtape Daily. "All that stuff they're fighting for has nothing to do with making good music or being an artist. It is what it is. It's a fight about being a popular celebrity. It has nothing to do with music. And I don't get caught up in that and I don't deal with anybody in it." Do you think Kim and Nicki have a reason to feud? Sound off below!
